Patriots Injury News Antonio Gibson out for year w/torn ACL

I just looked and Patterson actually played for McDaniels during his Pats stint. So I'd agree with you..
That’s useful to know. I didn’t feel Patterson was as well utilized as he might’ve been. But still was a good asset. If he’s still in shape and able to play at a high level I’d love to see what he could do with Maye. And Henderson might learn a th8ng or two from him.

According to rapsheet he is out for the year.
Yeah it's really sad. Torn ACL means out for the year. Gibson was playing pretty well and making meaningful contributions.

I'm thinking maybe the Patriots trade for a surplus RB from another team.

There's some speculation that Kenneth Walker could be a trade target.

It was a weird hit to tear an ACL. Maybe I got a bad view but it seemed dead on from the front. Big loss

There’s gonna be a lot on angry people on here when Terrell Jennings is elevated.

AFAIK Jennings has never returned kicks. That alone won't please many.

Anyone who can think at all realizes that there is a 90%+ chance of that happening. 9% would arise from the Patriots finding that backfilling that PS slot for a 4th RB is too hard, since practice squad to practice squad jumps don't happen. 1% would be trading for an active roster player.

lse sees that Vrabel has their backs. Rham and Henderson can carry the load and
I rewatched the game this morning and honestly I don't think it was the hit at all. You see him jam his leg into the turf trying to stop and probably pull some sort of juke or something and then he gets hit and is letting go of the ball to grab at the same leg that he just jammed into the turf. I don't think the hit even jarred the ball loose I think the guy just felt something give/explode in his leg and understandably panicked to reach for it.

Sucks to see - he's one of those guys who I think brings a certain kind of energy every time he touches the ball and this team needs its tone setters on both sides.

A huge stinky diahreaa cloud on a beautiful sunshine day.

Best of luck to Gibson

Le'Veon Bell is 33 yo. At least younger then Patterson and some of the others mentioned.

Damian Harris is 28. Maybe he'll un-retire?

JJ Taylor is 27 and without a team

Kevin Harris is 25 and without a team

Pierre Strong is 25 and on the Green Bay Practice Squad

JaMycal Hasty is 29 and on the Dolphins Practice Squad

--------------------------------------------

I would bring in Kevin Harris for a workout tomorrow (5'10" 225lb) or sign Pierre Strong (5'11" 215lb)

Show me someone on the team who can pass protect as well as Gibson, Run back Kicks as well as him. Cause, right now, that player isn't on the team.

Terrell Jennings is the only other RB the Pats have.

You aren't going to be playing games with just 2 RB.

Who is "Terrell Jones"?
Meant Terrell Jennings - got Marcus Jones on my brain as he's shown more moves than most of the RBs

Marcus Jones actually might be good at kick backs come to think of it - yeah I know he's a DB but again we are talking about 10 snaps a game and he has the skills.

That's pretty much what Gibson has been doing - out there for @10 snaps and @ 5-8 carries. No doubt he's better at blocking than TreVeyon Henderson

I mean, I know it's probably not going to happen - but if the concern is more about having a RB who can block, perhaps a DB like Jones might actually be able to handle that too!

Again, we're just talking about 10 snaps a game - but I'd think having Marcus Jones out there would really cause
Ds to take notice given his track record of big runs and returns.

Bell hasn't played in...5 years? I'm pretty sure he's officially retired.
Damien Harris is...interesting...if he has knees left, what a lift that would give to the RB room. Kid was always a competitor.
JJ Taylor blows and was a training camp binky for people.
K Harris I always liked, but there's gotta be some reason he's not on a team.
Strong is sort of the Diet version of Kevin Harris, but he's been on a roster more recently.
Hasty is...fine, I guess. I'm not giving up anything to get him.

I was thinking Pierre Strong but how about we use that spot for Chism, kick returns and to get Baker back from the Eagles?

Looks like Drake will have to run more

Really unfortunate that Lan Larison and Brock Lampe were both injured and placed on IR so early in training camp.

The offensive backfield has been thin ever since.

Does falling into the endzone twice from short yardage give you confidence?

Cause based on what i've seen so far he's just as likely to fumble the ball again next week as he is to have a good game, he's been a disaster we need someone who can get 4 yards a carry and hold onto the ball it shouldn't be that hard.

Right now Stevenson is averaging 3.7 yards a carry, 28 yards rushing a game and has 3 fumbles.

Stevenson is another fumble away from being totally unplayable even for Vrabel.
You are correct about his production with the ball in his hands, but what is getting overlooked is that he is the best RB we have in pass pro and that is crazy valuable. Not saying you are wrong, but I am saying its not as easy as take him out because of 3.7 yards a carry. His fumbling is a huge problem but he needs to be on the field for the pass pro.

Somene should get him to talk to Tiki.
