I re-watched that incredible play by Maye on their last possession and a few comments:

1. I would love to know what happened with the blocking on that one because it looked like a disaster from the start. Campbell and Wilson pulled at the snap but the rest of the line pretty much blocked straight on which left the DT with a free run at Maye.

2. Curran was complaining to Perry that this was a dumb play by Maye and that he shouldn't have even tried making that pass to Diggs. If Maye takes a sack or throws it away, the Patriots are likely punting in a few plays. If this play occurs in the 2nd qtr, I'm agreeing with Curran....live another day. But in this instance, this is likely the game and I'm glad Maye relied on his instincts and made an amazing athletic play.

And Stevenson ran right by the guy as he was coming in, I'm assuming because he was part of the pattern(s). Crazy that Maye pulled that off. He looked like he should've been taken down, and somehow made that throw.

The announcers were saying the Bills had put a spy on Maye so he couldn't roll right and Maye did anyway.

That's one of those plays where I don't envy Vrabel and McD having to tell Maye, "That was amazing and probably saved us the game. Now don't do it again."

This is correct. Vrabel and McD have to fix the execution at the same time.

I like for Maye to play smart but also take the risks when the time calls for it. The time called for it. The Pats needed to score and couldn’t afford a sack in that spot even on first down. If the Bills got the ball back without us scoring there they probably win.

I might be saying differently if it turned into a pick six but it didn’t. It helped win us the game.

Amazing play, success when all seemed lost. But it did put a punctuation mark on the fact that Maye was constantly being flushed out of the pocket all throughout the game. Rolling out to avoid the sack should not be a feature. Protecting the QB is still a work in progress.

It's a bootleg. It's designed to use his mobility while also making it easier for him to see, as he's only focusing on half the field.

Looked like Bradbury failed to pick up the DT, he was seen chasing the guy from behind. Crazy that Drake was able to control that pass when being yanked down like that by a tackle, kind of a horse collar from the front.

You think all those roll outs to the right were designed plays? To me, it looked like he was escaping the rush.

Maye is country boy strong. Tom Brady could not have pulled this play off. Think about it.

Are we in uncharted waters?

Certainly. I also noticed in the 1st qtr he stepped into pressure a few times. It's like his internal clock went off and instead of just scanning for an extra second he stepped up into the front of the pocket where a DT was waiting for him

I think some of them were designed and some were safety valves for when he feels the pressure.

Bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, game tied, 2 outs, 3-0 count, "Oh no, don't swing!"
Grand slam. "Great piece of hitting there."

That's the needle they have to thread. They need to make sure Maye knows when to take those chances and when it's better to just live to fight another down.
