This is just an FYI. Joel Klatt is talking about the quick passing game and he refers to Field read/pick a side based on presnap looks. Its the thing that I made up.

You realize this does nothing to support your original post. This applies to 3 step drop quick hit plays.
Unless you want to argue Douglas, Boutte and Hollins are getting open but not getting the ball because he run an offense of 3 step drop quick hit pass plays and Maye chooses to ignore their side of the field, this is irrevant.

Maye is playing great. There is no need to keep making posts implying he is going to fall apart by ignoring his job and trying to match Josh Allen or trying to create bizarre scenarios where the WRs who aren’t getting open as often as the should are really doing great and creating a reason that it’s Mayes fault.

It's called a clear-out route.

I don't think they're doing *exclusively* half-field reads for Maye, but they are doing some, and it's anything but uncommon for young QBs.

The problem comes in when the QB is *incapable* of throwing to the other side of the field (you've seen this for decades with any number of 'athletic' QBs, who only throw to one side of the field their whole career). Maye is more than capable, and they're not doing exclusively half-field reads. But they're certainly doing some of it, especially on first down.

A clear out is a combination of routes. That’s not a half field read.
A half field read is look at primary, secondary and then run, which is often done on a roll out.
It’s holding the qb back because you are afraid he will be slow with the reads and when he comes back to the other side he is off timing. It’s not a conceit as much as a limitation placed on a young qb

More importantly it’s not the offense we are running and there is a lot of tape to show that.

I think what you are confusing is that especially on first down and play action the first read is open.
The routes are run in combination so the first 2 are going to be on the same area of the field, because coverage dictates that if 1 is covered 2 is more likely to be open.
That doesn’t make it a half field read.

Another conceit that is referred to as a half field read is a 3 step drip quick hit play. You throw when step 3 hits the ground. You have to, based upon coverage chose the side presnap because the routes are done at 3 steps.
That is absolutely not the basis of our offense, and its usage is very rare

The initial thought was that this is a thing they do and COULD explain why Diggs got fed last week and this was my reasoning. YOU then proceeded to tell me how pick a side is not a thing and that I made it up (I called it field read). The video described the quick passing game which I also mentioned at some point but it is not only a quick game thing.

If there is a single clip of a play then that means it is possible to create more plays with the same intent. That single play can also be used out of multiple formations so its quite possible that it is more a part of the offense then you would like to admit.
