I love the play from the OL, but a factor that gets overlooked by many here is the contribution of McD. The utilization of the quick passing game has been tremendous and having the QB that can run it is amazing to see.

And where are Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams?

Daniels has missed the last two games. Not fair to judge him.

Williams had a great game last week, but this week he was back closer to his normal inconsistent self.

Right now, I would say Daniels is the best of the class, but Maye is closing in on him. Daniels is starting to develop a consistent injury history. If he cannot stay on the field, that will shoot Maye up over him by default. Daniels' ability to stay healthy or lack there of was a big knock on him during the scouting process last year.

I hate ESPN's QBR. But I was just pointing it out.

Understood. The cool thing is combining all his rankings if using the pure rating has him closer to 5 than 10.

I didn't think they had this type of game in them, at least not this early in the season with how the Raiders and Steelers games went. Maye's efficiency plus growing chemistry with Josh and Diggs are legit reasons for optimism. There were times in Mac's rookie year that we collectively felt good, but we may be feeling great about this team's future two months from now if the Pats can rack up some wins in the upcoming soft part of their schedule and Maye's ascent continues.

Edit: also need to mention Will Campbell. If he plays like an all pro LT that changes everything. He's exceed my expectations greatly to this point. I was so wrong about this dude - was expecting him to get spanked early on his career, especially with a fellow rookie to his right (or JAG Ben Brown as it was yesterday).
Actually they played this game against Pittsburgh but turned it over 5 times. Without the turnovers the result would have bern pretty similar.

I wanted to highlight this one run play that was designed beautifully. Although I will say I am pretty sure Campbell gets away with an illegal man downfield to start the blocking lol

This was at 11:46 in the 3rd. Henderson comes from the slot position to take it the other way. Great blocking all around.
You can’t have an illegal man down field on a running play.

Starting some tape review, shouldn't take long, blow outs don't tend to tell you much other than everyone played well.

Looked at left side of the line. Campbell was excellent, made it look pretty easy this game Had 1 play he got beat on a run play but run was to the RG area, so his guy did not get in on the tackle. Other than a clean sheet.

Ben Brown not so clean, counted 5 running plays he was beat on. Complete whiff on 1 of them. Not a great run blocking game for Brown but pass blocking was good, had 1 pressure, might have got away with a hold on that 1, maybe. Wilson played better last week. Would be concerned for the run game if you needed to start Brown against any DL that was good against the run.

Barmore and Williams are dominate lineman. Several plays a game by each that are all pro level plays. They both have amazing quickness and power. Fun to watch on tape, Barmore plays with an edge for sure. I don't know if there is a better twosome in the league. Especially considering they line them up in any position across the front.

Durden, Farmer and Thonga got some extended time, clearly a drop off from the 2-star starters but they hold their own enough to give the big guys rest. Thonga is clearly the best of those 3 but all 3 played well in their roles

Gonzalez and Davis played well. Gonzalez is something special. When watching Diggs in previous weeks I had the same feeling. They are just smooth out there, like the game is easy for them. Gonzalez looks like he is not even trying, while Davis is having similar success and looks like he's giving 100% on every play. It's not Gonzo dogging it, he's just so good he makes it look effortless.

Gibbens over Elliss every game from here on out please.

I thought Woodson, though not perfect, probably played his best game. More decisive on decision making, game may have slowed down for him a bit this week. Hopeful start of him going from average to good.

Boutte had only 14 pass plays. I thought he was fine, I thought he rounded 2 of his in-cut routes too much but also had some good routes, just not the main target on most plays.

They played zone probably more than man.

Those are some quick highlights; a blowout win is going to look good. Only real surprise was how bad Brown was overall in the run blocking game.

Did you look at the first offensive play of the game -- a run by Stevenson to the right? They pulled Brown and double-teamed a hole for Stevenson to run into, but Brown drifted off to the right and the hole closed. Surely, he should have been in that hole and opening it for the running back?

In general, the Patriots had very little success running up the middle, and the Panthers had a lot more than one would have liked running to the edges, with some very poor tackling.

Also Ellis is (still) terrible in zone coverage.

In a game with so much to be happy about, that might seem nitpicky. It's not that I didn't appreciate the many good things, but there is still a way to go.

Real good catch on Woodson. I noticed a marked improvement in his game this week. He looked like he was covering more ground and getting to the ball much more decisively. Nothing world class or anything, but IMPROVING and looking more comfortable.

IF his game continues to improve with the understanding that there are always going to be set backs, Woodson might just end up being on of the best picks we took in a draft that has produced 3 impact rookies so far (Campbell, Wilson, Woodson) and 5 more regular contributors (Williams, Henderson, Farmer, Borgalles, and the snapper) With the hope that Williams and Henderson and Borgalles become impact players down the road

That's a HELL of a draft haul even for a team that had drafted well in the past, let alone a team with our sorry record the last few years. (and not counting a future HOFER WR in Chism.)

Woodson seemed like maybe he's getting a little more comfortable. I thought he played a little faster and was hitting harder in yesterday's game then the first few. Cliche I know but the eye test seemed like he was more free.

Putting together two straight classes like that can flip a team around fast.

According to statmuse theres only 3 qbs who started all 4 games and turned the ball over less than Drake ( hes got 3 total so tied for 4th with 5 other qbs). So another top 10 ranking

It’s like you guys don’t want a great QB….smdh…go root for the Jets..
