You could always line up eligible players as ineligible like with Whoman vs Baltimore lol I just wanted to bring up that fun memory.
I believe that play's been outlawed since then, specifically because of that game

It's actually pretty interesting.... I believe the offense is required to have their 5 linemen on the field, and in a specific alignment, but as far as I know the defense can play whoever. So an "all ILBs/defensive backs" deployment is pretty unique...

Requirements as I could find:

- Seven players on the line of scrimmage, 5 of whom must be ineligible, which is typically the OL. So it seems like you can play "whoever", so long as they're ineligible? I mean I can't imagine rolling out anything other than OL players for those 5 ineligible, though lol

That's how it used to be written, and what Belichick took advantage of. He lined up Hoomanawanui at LT but declared him "eligible". He lined up Vereen as a receiver on the LOS off to the right of the RT, but declared him "ineligible". So, effectively, the LG became the LT and the slot WR became the RT, but not actually next to the OL. The Ravens committed coverage to Vereen because he was "looked like" a receiver, and was positioned as one, but was ineligible. Meanwhile, the "Left Tackle" who was really a TE ran upfield instead of pass blocking and was uncovered.

I believe it's since been changed to very clearly dictate OL assignment, which is why the "swinging gate" play is also illegal now.

They definitely tweaked some rules. But you still can declare eligible players ineligible. I think the rule change is where you can then line them up. But I forget exactly what it was.

I don't believe that's quite right. I believe that the reporting as ineligible players have to be attached to the line, "within the tackle box" was the wording. Linemen with linemen numbers can still line up split out, so the swinging gate play can still happen. The Hooman play can still happen as well, but you can't have a Shane Vereen lining up wide while ineligible. It has to be a Will Campbell.

AFC Championship game preview amirite?

Who to root for (or against) for the 7:15 game? A tie maybe? But hate to say, kinda rather see Miami lose for some reason … I dunno

AFC (b)East football tonight baby

LOL! It must really suck for the powers that be to make this game seem like it matters.

These Dolphins uniforms deserve to lose

These are their Rivalry uniforms that that Nike unveiled recently. It's supposed to represent the dark waters of the sea.

Folk still kicking
Strange starting right guard (with safety helmet)
Interesting … and gotta say kinda rooting for Strange … None of the mess was his fault

But the seas around Florida are blue. Oh wait,,, there probably paying homage to the Deep water horizon.

The black uniforms are for Mike McDaniel’s coaching funeral

The Dolphins don’t want to tackle …
