Tyquan Thornton thanks us for all the hate and doubt

Tuquan has 2 catches and this thread has 8 pages? Boney T sucks. The chiefs need any body they can find. He still can't catch.
Again, he has more receiving yards than anyone on the Patriots.

Do I want Thornton back? No. He was terrible here when he wasn't injured. So tbh who cares what he's doing on the Chiefs. He was one of many draft whiffs by BB and that will never change.

First, I would say that is faint praise of Thornton. Other than Boutte in game one, no WR has stood out as a real threat on offense.

Second, Maye has spread the ball around more than Mahomes has. Maye has passed for more yards (785 vs 669) and more TDs (5 vs 3) than Mahomes has. Maye doesn't have a lot of great options, but he has far more receiving options than Mahomes who has his top two WRs not playing.

He ranks 2nd in the entire NFL in Yards Per Reception, he has scored a long receiving TD in back to back weeks.

I know, it sucks for you biased types who said he was bad and irredeemable... seems all he needed was a good team around him.

Just say the words "I was wrong," and set yourself free.

That is misleading. He has nine receptions for 171 yards with his longest reception being 57 yards. So a third of his receiving yards were on one pass. So the fact he has only 9 receptions skews the average total.

You take away that one catch and he is averaging 14.25 YPC. That would make him 24th in the league.

We are way too early in the season for YPC to mean anything because one or two really long catches by a receiver can skew the results.

Great. Thanks. I never had a parade before.

Looks to me like Thornton is part of the problem, not the solution.

With Smith-Shuster and Thornton as the starting WR, Mahomes currently has his worst completion percentage of his career (under 60%) and worst ratings. The Chiefs are 1-2 because their offense is under performing at 20 points per game on average. Thornton as a 50% catch ratio, which is bad, but in line with previous seasons.

Chances are, once Rice and Worthy returns, Thornton will become a good candidate to be cut in order to make place for another player at a position of needs.

I'm no fan of Thornton's, but that technique needs to be evenly applied for comparative purposes.

To be at all fair: what would his YPC ranking be against all receivers each minus their longest reception?

Same as N'Keal Harry, an even bigger whiff by Bill.

He finds a team that is desperate enough to find a spot for him and everyone on patsfans.com ****s themselves.

In a few weeks he'll be buried on the depth chart and no one will give a damn.

In a few years he'll be on his fourth team and he'll be almost invisible.

At this point, it is irrelevant. Again, it is too early to really look at YPC as a valid stat. By the end of the year there are going to be like 60-70 receivers or more who have 50 catches or more and probably 20 or more with 80 or more receptions. So measuring his YPC based on 9 catches is misleading stat. That is my point.

Bob Kraft and Bill Belichick said otherwise.
When Kraft fired Belichick he cited Belichick having too much control over all football operations and it being unfeasible to take control from him. You can't use it both ways where you use Kraft's words to say the supposed collaboration absolve Belichick and also then ignore that he thought Belichick had too much control when he fired him.

The reality is "the collaboration" is just a smokescreen to take some critciism off Belichick drafting.

Even if you accept it

1. At some level Bill Belichick was involved and a major part of the collaboration.
2. He was drafting very poorly years before that.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's back on the Chiefs practice squad soon.

Good players drafted = all the credit to Belichick
Bad players drafted = it's the collaboration

Hey, remember when Reche Caldwell was injury prone in SD and the most yards he caught in a season was 352 yards and didn't have more than 3 receiving TD's only to go to NE and have a "career year" with 752 yards and 4 TD's? Yeah they let his ass go one year later.

If you have to preface your point with sensationalistic nonsense... you don't have a leg to stand on.

He doesn't have to become an All Pro to become a sold contributing role player. Literally nobody said "All Pro," nobody.
A role player is hardly worth the attention this thread is getting

I doubt you guys are watching the games. Thornton has beaten his man repeatedly down the field but Mahomes has been off on a number of throws because their OL is terrible and he's running for his life. Thornton will be a solid #2 or a really good #3.

Just because he didn't do well here doesn't mean he sucks. I think a lot of you guys judgement is clouded because you want him to suck.

The Chiefs has been saying a lot of positive things about him since the off-season so this isn't a surprise.
He will absolutely not be a solid 2/3. He is a fast guy who is not particularly game-speed fast and has zero suddenness. Aside from his awesome catch last night, his hands and contested catch ability are mediocre. His route running looks like it may have taken a step forward up to average. JAG. He is one in a long line of JAGs who have made plays and popped here or there over the years.
Edit: also, once the rest of the Chiefs receiving core is back, TT will go back to rarely seeing the field and rightfully so.

Again, I don't think you're watching the games. He smokes his guy off the LOS here to get open quickly for a TD. It looks pretty sudden to me. Not Tyreek Hill sudden, but looks solid if this was your #2WR.

When he scored his TD last week against the Eagles he smoked his guy down the field and had to wait for the ball because it was underthrown
