Unless im missing alot, Henderson hasn’t had much to work with. Haven’t seen any dancing or anything like that, seems to be more of a run blocking issue.
I’d defer to whoever is watching the tape but it’s not like Henderson was running into a brick wall out there. He’d get a few yards and then immediately brought to the ground.

To me he looks like a guy who is meant to play in space, not between the tackles. Which means he is not a feature back. He’s a third down back who is struggling with pass protection.

And that raises another question about coaching. How did a guy renowned for his pass blocking turn into an absolutely mess with it? Did they even make an effort to build on that ability he had in college or just assume it would translate easily?

The penalties and turnovers suck but making comparisons to last year's squad at this point is beyond dumb. The eye test alone reveals a significantly better operation on game day. Last year's team got worse week over week and let's not even talk about game day shenanigans on the side lines. Progress isn't always linear but there is some to be seen.

The pick in the end zone was not egregious. He made the right read and the right throw. A qb can’t be accountable to a DL batting a pass. The entire passing game operation would fall apart if you ask a qb to account for where the DL and their hands are before throwing the ball.

It’s amazing to me that this team has an absolutely superstar at QB and you have nothing better to do than to demean him.
Why be a fan?
So we can't criticize a player?? All he had to do is just take the Sack on that Fumble. We would get Three points at the very least in a close game. Maye's closing prowess is Not there yet: keep telling yourself they are. I know what I see.

I didn’t say you can’t criticize a player.
The best thing this team has kid it’s franchise qb who in year 2 is shredding defenses, and you have nothing better to do than hate on him and attack him.
But that’s kind of your thing. You pretty much hate every Patriot right? Because you are a fan who deserves 20 straight 70-0 wins and damn thise loser players who can’t meet your standard. You come off as a major loser in life who dots nothing and criticizes everything.

He reminds me of a Dion Lewis with less jukes. And if he goes down quickly, then damnit we need more jukes.

To your bolded portion, I think he's getting used to how hard players hit in the NFL.

“It’s definitely more physical than college. That surprised me,” Henderson said. “It’s definitely more physical than college, like I took some shots out there.”

He could be a little shook to pick up the blitz, I mean he isn't huge. Rham is only 2 inches taller but 20lb heavier.

Agreed. Gibbs who he's compared too didn't really take off his rookie season until they went on the great run down the stretch. Henderson is likely the most talented weapon we have on offense he needs to be used more as we go along.

Those are fair points, its still very early with him but until proven to run better between the tackles henderson is probably best as a 3rd down/change of pace guy. Thats why Vrabel says we need rham because hes probably the best pure runner of the 3 whenever there is a crease. This team can’t afford the fumbles though.

On this day, I am thankful for a few things:

1) I am no longer the kid that used to be depressed for several days after a Pats loss.

2) I have a passion for a 2nd sport and that team is doing very well the last few years. So the euphoria from watching Liverpool win on Saturdays or Sunday mornings lightens the blow of seeing us lose on Sunday afternoon.

3) The only upside of us sucking is almost all games are at 1pm so I don't have to go to sleep still pissed after another loss.

4) I still don't know if Maye is going to be a good QB or not but at least he has done enough for me to still hold out hope.

5) We were much better yesterday - turnovers not withstanding

He did not drop 2, c'mon. You talking about the Chuck Knoblach throw in the dirt for one of them?

Both of his "drops" were ****ty throws by Maye. One was a skip ball and the other was thrown over & behind him so that he barely got one hand on it. If that pass was remotely near his chest, Pop probably would have caught it because he was open.

Negative.

Sure, gotta take with a grain of salt like I said. But they grade how they grade and if last year a team that gave up 57 pressures is considered terrible LT play then if they grade him as on pace for 119 it has to be a terrible game.

OL play in particular I think is tough to quantify with a "grade" so as much as any position any attempt at quantification should be taken with many, many grains of salt.
That 119 number is if he has 7 pressures for each of the 17 games. The problem is he had two games before this where he didn’t have 7 pressures each game. So that 119 number is not only ridiculously off, it offers no opportunity for a rookie to do what most good rookies do, which is improve.

They're also watchable this season. Couldn’t say that the last couple of seasons. So that’s something…
This, exactly this. To me, this was the main thing they needed to fix. Prove they're not just rolling out the football and running what might as well be Wing-T on offense.

Lamar and Josh Allen says hello on those. The margin of error for this Team is the definition of small.
Yeah, those two play for Super Bowl contenders.

The Patriots aren't a super bowl contender, they're a rebuilding team.

A rare excellent take from you that doesn't involve naming 6 other wide receivers. This is actually true.

It's amazing, every '****ty throw' from Maye has Pop Douglas on the other end of it.

Stop it already when he stops those Maye specials he'll be in the conversation: until then meh.
He’s 23, raw & playing way above average. Plus, the numbers & film back it up. Of course he’s gonna make some mistakes. He’s also not playing with any dynamic experienced talent. Maye is better than Daniel’s, Williams, Nix & definitely Penix. He’s basically carrying the offense. At the rate he’s playing, he’s currently a top 10 QB. Enjoy it.. Now, relax..have a coke & a smile.

This. Next start is start 14 for him.

He's not *wrong* his end-of-game management shows a pattern, it does, and it was my main concern about him in the offseason. I wasn't fully on-board with Team Maye, but he's shown me more than enough this season that he's a guy you can win with once the holes are filled in.

There’s a few of them on this board.
