OT: Brady booth-gate

We made a huge mistake not using this asset.

You know he’s recruiting when he meets these players as well.

Imagine Tom and Josh in Mayes ear.

MVP.
Doubtful league would have approved the sale of Patriots shares to Brady given his history of pay cuts

From what I read Brady is not allowed in the production meetings with the teams because of his ownership status. Pre-game he is allowed on the field but on the days before the games he doesn’t attend the meetings with players/coaches.

And normally he won’t be at Raiders games because of his broadcast duties. Only reason he was on the headset last night was because it was a Monday night game.
They said he goes over film with Kelly and Carrol 4 times a week.

You mean like how they've made Geno look so good?

You mean to tell me the Brady might use every loophole that he can find to give his team an advantage?

That wasn’t my point. My point was that Brady, because he’s an owner, does not have the same access to other teams players/coaches like other broadcasters do. I’m not talking about Raiders access, but his access to other teams as a broadcaster. He’s there calling games, but he doesn’t get to meet with the players and coaches for insight.

am I the only one who thinks its no big deal? That this whole issue is as much smoke & mirrors as deflate gate was?

Brady was in the booth with the raiders OC last night... big whoop... So what?

he didn't have access to the chargers pregame plans... anything else you want to know about the chargers, or any other team for that matter, can be gleaned by subscribing to NFL+ and watching the All-22 game films...

Bunch of hooey this is... much ado about nothing

Seems to me that, given the value of the Raiders, they've already made a huge ROI.
I mean if you do the math, Brady got a hell of a discount for 10%. Brady bought 10% of the Raiders at a $2 billion valuation, and CNBC recently estimated the true value of the franchise to be $9.3 billion. So far, they have given Brady way more than he has given them, granted it is still early, and I am sure there are 4,000 clauses that will never allow Brady to realize any of those gains.
You were right to emphasize that point. There is real cash money at stake here.

Brady brought his very wealthy "business partner" along for the ride, if not more.

There has to be a lot of pressure on Brady to make that $200M investment pay off.

No one parks that much money in one place not expecting a significant ROI.

This whole situation stinks to the high heavens, IMO.
I agree that the Raiders/Davis aren't just looking to be tied to a winner. They are looking for tangible ROI. Sure, just having Brady in the fold probably gets them a bump, but no matter what Brady or anyone else claims, Brady is involved in decision-making within the org. Who knows what will happen though, as we have seen some all-time greats get into the personnel side of their respective sports and fail because they don't seem to realize that Kwame Brown can't will his way into being Michael Jordan.
Tom Brady's aspirations go beyond owning just 10% of the team. He'll never do better than that here with the ownership structure in place for decades to come. It isn't a good fit for either party.
Maybe he gets to be the majority owner somewhere, and there is some succession plan in place long-term in Vegas, but Brady seems to tie himself to too many snake oil salesmen. TB12, where they used money from their "charity" to fund the TB12 business, and all the shady stuff Guerrero has been tied to in the past. Of course, there is the whole crypto thing. Brady was either bamboozled out of millions or failed to do his due diligence, depending on what you believe.

Who knows? Maybe if he orbits in circles with guys like Davis and Michael Rubin long enough, his business sense/contacts will improve and expand, but I think he will need more than a sweetheart deal he can likely never cash out to become a principal owner of a team.

I disagree. He shouldn't be in that booth or anywhere with communication to the coordinators or anyone on the staff. He cannot have his cake and eat it too, which is exactly what is happening here. If Aikman was broadcasting on Fox, then the next week in the Dallas booth I would be saying the same thing. At the very least the optics are horrible. Then again it's the Raiders, a trash organization with mostly trash fans so they could care less.

In the end I was shocked Brady would even want to have his name attached to such an organization.

Disappointed to see his last sentence in that article. It's not accurate and he should know better. "(Goodell) suspended Brady 10 years ago for cheating"... no that's not why he was suspended.
That is where Florio dips back into the 90% annoying pool. He was a big part of fanning the flames on the whole deflategate nonsense and running with things that weren't true.

Probably a good thing he didn't show at the week 1 game with a Raiders hat on (or was he?)

why? he wasn't working the game... he didn't sit in any production meetings, etc...

I am sure he gets a lot more from his partner when it's time to call the game.

eh, manufactured drama...

If a team in a production meeting is letting trade secrets slip, thats on them...

just my 2¢ ... ymmv

If the league is ok with Brady doing this then let's get one of the Krafts in the broadcast booth to get some intel on future prospects or FA's for us on other teams.

Until the league opens an investigation against the Patriots for salary cap circumvention paying Brady much lower than the market rate for QBs over the years with a nudge wink deal to take partial ownership when he's done.
Poor Tom, retired penniless.

How is the league ok with this?

It still annoys me that Kraft didn't give him the same sweetheart deal that Fredo Davis did out there in Vegas. Statues and ceremonies will get Brady here for that day, and that is about it; meanwhile, he is traveling with Vegas to games in his free time and actively involved in running the team.
How many draft picks do you think we would have lost if Brady was a Patriots owner while doing that?

Does anyone still believe Brady is "a Patriot for life," as he proclaimed during his Hall ceremony last summer? He now bleeds silver and black.
