I think we may have reached the point where the Post Game thread has become as unreadable as the Game Day thread. A remarkable achievement.

Three coaching staffs in a row try to use Stevenson has a short yardage back and three times he proves he can't do it.

Good post. That wasn’t the fumble though I think.
That was the incomplete pass. On the fumble I don’t think he was actually touched (but I have to go back and check)
Should have let it run out but that is the fumble the was recovered by Campbell. Later there is the almost fumble when Crosby chased him from behind.

It is the nature of every NFL teams' fans message board. Some are quick to turn on players who under perform. Others will defend the players they like or love no matter what. Many of us have fallen in both categories at times over the years.

Yes, right now Maye needs to get better and he does have significant issues he needs to fix and some of those have always been there. But it is too early to give up on the guy. He could fix most or all of those issues and become a good or even great QB. Or he could eventually bust out and become a career back up.

Indeed. Coming out of the draft a year ago he was known to be raw and need more development. We are one game into his second season. Let's talk at the end of his third season.

Agreed. Just joined the forum a weeks back, so this is my first post game thread experience. I think pounding my head against a brick wall would be more productive than trying to objectively discuss the outcome of ONE football game.

Maybe I am more of a Maye apologist than others but he hasn't even played a full 17 games in his career and he's literally the youngest day one starter in the league. Maye also has a new head coach, OC, 4 new offensive linemen, and a couple new receivers in the mix.

Yup.

Some posters are clueless and losing their minds when it comes to Maye and his development. Now throw in a new HC. New OC. New offensive system. Layer on that average WRs. Average o-line and rookies starting on the left side. Maye is still very young.

To not give him some rope is freaking moronic.

I think the problem is the development. His feet were kinda trashy all day yesterday. There is no consistency with that yet and it's something we are all looking for.

Agree. I could go on all day on Maye. Pocket feel. Accuracy. Timing. Throw tempo. Reads. Bonehead throws.

He also did some good things. Just gotta see how he develops this year.

Rookie report:
Campbell: Played very well, lucky to not get Crosby regularly but overall, a good game.
Woodson: Probably best of all the rookies. Very good game. Now they just need to get Peppers back? Or start Pettus or Dugger next to him?
Henderson: Good start, ran hard, got what was there, not much opportunity in space but solid debut. Should be the starter.
Williams: Incomplete, 7 plays, 5 of them passes, caught a ball but seemed to bobble it as it got to his chest. But he caught it. Play before that that he was open for a TD but Maye had a free rusher and took the first read completion to the TE. He needs to play over Hollins who is terrible.
Wilson-Mixed bag, probably was the worst lineman for the Pats but not Layden Robinson rookie bad. Hopefully he improves at guard, which you think he will as he gets experience but had a few rough plays and gave up 6 pressures. Beter against run, but a little leery he's going to be a negative on pass plays overall, hoping for improvement. I am pretty sure he's the future center and not the future guard.
Farmer: 12 snaps, 6 passes, 6 runs. He caused a hurry on his first play and walked his guard back on another pass play. Did get pushed back on a run play, though he did slip, and ball carrier went right thru his vacated hole. Very next play he knocked the center back and Jeanty to had to cut back against the play design where Spillane was there for stop on a 3-yard gain. Showed impressive power. Good overall in limited snaps and might be more in a rotation as the year goes on. Surprised by his power.
Bryant-Blocks on field goal unit, 4 plays, did his job, makes himself very wide so hard to get thru or around him but it's a field goal, nothing to learn.
Ashby-Perfect 10 snaps. His punt snaps are LASERS. Gets down the field pretty fast on punts. Think they have the next decades long snapper. So that's 1 position checked off!
Borregales-Missed the 1 kick, sucks but rookie kicker right? Kick offs were excellent, flirting with touchbacks but didn't. Showed some guts by coming back after missing first field goal and hitting the rest.
Ponder-Only 4 snaps on defense with nothing notable but is a core special teamer
Chism-Played a better game than Pop

As expected, Wilson at guard might not last, he's got to improve quickly. Bradbury played well, especially in pass pro so he's not taking that spot this year. We will see if he holds onto guard.

Pretty good start for the rookie class overall.

I will now review the 2024 draft class outside of Drake Maye:

Wallace: Did not play but on the roster

Waddle got dinged up yesterday FYI.
He got his shoulder jammed into the turf when tackled, looked bad but he came back into the game later on. Might have some lingering effect though, unless it was just a stinger.
