Say it ain't so.I am not calling for DeVito but it is hard to imagine he would have been worse looking at a zone defense for the whole game.

If Maye is a one dimensional QB then we have a problem. It is easy to take away the big plays if the QB can't make the short and intermediate throws. The Jets OC has clearly done a better job getting their offense prepared for week 1. Fields, prior looked clueless playing QB, but yesterday he looked confident.
As good as a HC Vrabel is, if his coordinators aren't good, he's gonna be cooked. Lions about to find out how valuable their coordinators were.
McD and Brady was a perfect match - Brady is super accurate with short and intermediate throws. So taking 'profit' with short throws was easy for him. Maye on the other hand, is better at imporvising and trying to make big plays (we saw this last year) and I don't think he's comfortable dinking and dunking. That's why he may be sailing his throws. McD needs to taylor the offense to Maye's skillset.
He did a lot great… that’s his tale to date. Promise, potential. And I’m patient, I get it… but many of the same people making the excuses for him are the same people who had a hard time admitting Tom Brady threw a single bad pass in a game. It was always the receiver, the coach… whomever.Wozzy spot on. However I would say there were lots to be encouraged enough about. Drake made big time throws shades of his potential. Defense made actual adjustments and shut the raiders down in the first half. We had control of this game.
Our running game being a non factor was the reason we had no play action passing. Campbell held his own..
That's the most frightening thing to me about Maye's development... Dan O did a quick video after preseason game 2 with just 3 plays where there's amazing open opportunities and Maye just looks past them too quickly and scrambles try to make a stupid throw.
I hate to say it, but if he were a 2nd rounder "running QB" - the entire NFL world would be saying he can't read defense or process a NFL-level offense. And he'd be washed out after this 2nd year.
Something better change fast.
It was disgusting. Diggs could have had 15 catches yesterday.
Douglas was not terrible.I was at the game, and have not seen replay yet.
from my vantage point, Pop was open on 3 routes, and May threw to him, high. open 3 times, missed 3 times
Pop did have 2 rcpts
Pop did have a drop
I am all for Chism getting a shot, even at Pop's expense. but Pop's play yesterday was not that poor
just an opinionDouglas was not terrible.
BTW, both Boutte and Diggs can play from the slot position.
There was nothing in the play of WR's that should lead to Chism playing.
yesDrake had a 108.3 rating in the first half of the game and a 59.3 rating in the second half. He was good for a half. Fix Drake.
Mack Hollins sucks get it through your thick skull. We are wasting snaps out there with him.Douglas was not terrible.

Drake Maye needs to remember Pop Douglas is 5'8 not 6'8 with a small catch radius. Maye has to put it on him just right. It's not hard: Pop is going to be open most of the time.just an opinion
there seems to be a real comfortable feel of where targets will be. Maye seems to have that with Boutte, Henry. obviously some carry over from last year.
I don't sense he has the feel yet with Pop...
Nothing yet like Brady-JE, but Maye just is more comfortable throwing to certain guys. I don't think he is with Pop
fair enoughjust an opinion

As far as I see it we have two reliable receivers: Boutte and Diggs.
If Pop can’t perform at a higher level in the actual games we should give Chism snaps. I’d already give Hollins’s snaps to Williams. Why wait?
If Drake gets benched...you're getting this guy.I am not calling for DeVito but it is hard to imagine he would have been worse looking at a zone defense for the whole game.
That's a very fair assessment. Like you I saw the good Drake did and his big play capabilities. The second half we just couldn't execute on offense there was nothing special the raiders did.. this game is 100% on us no one else. The team can definitely feel good about that. It's not like they got dominated. For the production the raiders had they should have hung 40. The won by a TD.He did a lot great… that’s his tale to date. Promise, potential. The second half changed IMO because in the first half Maye came out slinging. The pass seemed to open up the run. When he started missing third down passes, converting and extending drives the Raiders defense could focus on the run.
Zero points scored in the second half, the very first drive of the second half ended in an INT. The next four drives were punts. Penalties, poor execution, 3-14 on third down… not going to get it done.
Oh my God -- I'm quoting another Mac here: "You cannot be serious!"Justin Fields played much better than our Drake Maye yesterday: both running and passing.
Since Brady left?NOBODY WANTS to be in the Jets situation and constantly looking for a franchise QB...but many teams can find themselves in that situation due to poor scouting, coaching and drafting supporting players. Pats are currently in that situation. Since Brady left its been a revolving door at QB.
Here is where I give a lot of credit to the Raiders and Tom Brady!! They went outside the box and traded for an experienced veteran Geno Smith who already proved he could play. This required vision, innovative thinking and some element of risk. The Pats front office has not had those qualities in a long long time.
Nice job for Brady and Carrol making a wise bridge QB decision.
Tale of 2 halves... he seems to know how read zone defenses in the first half but in the second half he became Bailey jones.I am not calling for DeVito but it is hard to imagine he would have been worse looking at a zone defense for the whole game.
10 points in a half is poor. Better than 3 points, but still poor. The tale of 2 halves was **** and ****tier.Tale of 2 halves... he seems to know how read zone defenses in the first half but in the second half he became Bailey jones.
Agreed that's why I said it was a tale of 2 halves. Anyways.. lets see how he fares in the house of horrors in Miami..10 points in a half is poor. Better than 3 points, but still poor. The tale of 2 halves was **** and ****tier.
