Bill vs TCU game thread

I was intrigued by my own reaction to what unfolded last night.

Reason being that despite Bill making a fool of himself recently. going full-weirdo, and torching the Patriots and Krafts to anyone who will listen, I figured I’d still end up pulling for him to win at UNC because I’ll always be grateful for six freaking superbowls.

Instead, I found myself somewhat torn between satisfied watching him be humbled, and sad that he seems to have become so arrogant and insulated that he believed he could just roll out his Superbowl rings in Chapel Hill and win.

Kirby Smart has a vastly superior roster this year to Bill and I could see GA losing 3 games.

And Kirby is a very good coach.

College football is about roster talent and superstars.

UNC doesn’t have either.

Final strange thought:

The final chapters I expected from Bill and TB2 have literally played out in reverse.

I thought Tom would go to Tampa, look like a shell of himself, and ruin his legacy.

I thought Bill would win a SB without Tom and ride of into the sunset.

Man did I get that backwards.

Fair. Emulating the 24 year old girlfriend situation is probably a high-priority item for a lot of guys in their 70s.

The real playas don't stop at one.

See Jones, Jerrah for one example.

It’s game one of his first season. Y’all are crazy.
Yes. Let's ignore a complete no-show blow-out loss. This is what drives me crazy about the "Bill can do no wrong” crowd is that they love to whistle past the graveyard until the bottom falls out, and then regurgitate whatever excuses Bill's minions leak out. I don’t think this means UNC is dead and buried, but after a somewhat turbulent spring and summer, the payoff was supposed to be on the field, and week one they looked underprepared and outmatched from the first minute.

That game did nothing good for Steve B either. Still think he should have gone his own way with another NFL or college team away from his father and proved himself there.

The regurgitation of the day is their old “Bill the recruiter is letting Bill the coach down “ nonsense. I watched the game. UNC was outmanned, but TCU was better coached as well.

Mortals have shelf lives particularly for a position as demanding as HC of a pro or college football team. There’s no blue pill that can get you up to the task. Bill lost it as he passed through his late 60s. It’s long gone now at 73. Saban was at least humble enough to retire.

As someone who’s been rooting for teams coached by Bil Belichick since the 1980s and was rooting for UNC last night. I just wish Bill had made the same decision as his one time DC.

Must have missed MJ and LT playing yesterday. And Moss. Maybe next week…

Bill is a good recruiter, of has-beens.

Hey, I hope he learns his lessons from this game.

He never seemed to learn anything during his last few years in the NFL, apart from being increasingly antagonistic and negligent.

Embarrassing.
Bill has a LOT of work to do.

Steve did a great job at UW last year. He should have stayed there

His Exodus saved us Fans...he's lucky we had Brady.

This feels like the rare situation where an overreaction is still somehow the correct reaction.
The reactions I have found to be quite enlightening. Surprisingly for the most part not as bad as expected. Except for the 3 or 4 worst offenders who somehow managed to outdo themselves.

I agree. I busted out the Ignore button today. Life is too short to share in their misery.

I am reacting more strongly than I normally would to one game, especially since I am a noted "BB guy," but I do see a lot of cause for concern.
