I don't think he's that poor. That's someone like Braxton Berrios. Chism has grown man strength. He'll break tackles so his lack of long speed won't hurt as much and he can get open as we've seen so far.
I meant it in a good way.

who cares instead of taken the best player on the Board we gamble for two lesser players to add more depth or take more bites at the Apple.

Everyone said McConkeys nfl comparison was Jordy Nelson, and we figured nah we don’t need that.
That is a crazy comp because their play styles are not similar

Imagine this Future OL: LT M Bryant LG T-Rex Campbell - C J Wilson RG Onwenu's Replacement - RT Corpse Moses Replacement. We would have gotten Three Guys from the same Draft.
Why are some folks dead set on making Campbell convert to guard when he is so far apparently doing as well as he possibly could do at LT?

Are you all so invested in your imagined future limitations for him that you just can’t wait and see what reality turns out to be when we get there?

Imagine this future OL: LT T-Rex Campbell - LG Caedan Wallace (*) - C J Wilson - RG Onwenu's Replacement - RT M Bryant

(*) or a future draft pick.

We would still have gotten Three Guys from the same Draft.

WOW. You just can't pick a side. Can you? You were all about Lichtenhan having "more opportunity" if he joined the Pats. Now, you've done a 180?
Right. I don’t pick sides. I look at facts. And I don’t hesitate to update my thinking as I learn from new inputs. I guess that does make me weird, doesn’t it?

it’s hard for me to witness incompetence in any form of my life.
No matter if it’s colleagues above or under me, friends, family members,or my beloved Pats.
I feel you on that. I do a lot of things that will kill me if I **** up, so I have a high regard for competence and much intolerance for incompetence.

Unfortunately incompetence is very easily found, very widespread.

But you have to pick your battles. Can’t fix stupid, but must try to keep stupid in its place away from critical functions.

It’s a relief to have Vrabel instead of Mayo.

This 1000%. Howie just uses his common sense, something that is in very short supply of the vast majority of other general managers in the league. He tries to resurrect career of first rounders and other highly rated players. It’s not like for the most part, he’s picking diamonds in the rough. The one huge exception is Jordan Mailatta who he did kind of find in the hinterlands.
If Belichick had not tried to portray himself as such a genius who could make any crappy player into a star and he had picked consensus draft picks for the past 5 to 7 years this team would not be in the position it is today. However, Bill was such a narcissist that he had to always go against the common grain And avoid talented players like the plague.
You could have observed that for years Belichick did quite well by picking players off other teams scrap heaps and resurrecting or developing them. But no you had to find the negative dark cloud instead.

Do you know that whatever you focus your attention on shapes your thoughts and feelings? So when you consistently look for the negatives you’re not thinking about things that make you happy. And that just feeds on itself.

Not a single person from another team was added. To this teams detriment.
No longer true.
Patience, grasshopper.
Don’t be so quick to be negative about the team you root for.
It is hard to believe that no player from another team is better than the guys the Pats had in camp. The Pats drafted well this year, so they must have recent quality evaluations on the other players. Can not get too sentimental.
They’ve released PS players that were with the Pats in camp, in order to add players from other teams. So apparently those added players were deemed better than the guys who were released.

So maybe things are better than you seemed to think when you posted that.
The PS is just as fluid as the roster.
We will see how fluid it is. I hope it is fluid.
We have now seen that it is in fact fluid. Or has been so far, and probably will continue to be.

Seriously?

Do you have any idea how many bad ideas you have had the past few years, or how many of Patsfan2’s terrible ideas you have agreed with? If you and your “ twin” were running this team they would be $300 million over the cap and the roster would be 53 Wide Recievers.

Yep. There is still a lot of work to do building this team, and this season is going to be one big tryout for many of them. Even the highly paid guys, like Duggars, Onwenu, and Stephenson have to show they are worth their contracts or they will be gone after the season. The Felger clones are going to scream and cry, gnash their teeth and make a fuss at every move, but that’s actually how you get from the worst roster in football to become a contender. This is actually what got me into football as a kid, and why I love the draft so much. The process of figuring out what is needed and who to fill your needs with until you become great. It takes time and patience, and unfortunately many fans of every team, but especially the Patriots don’t have that patience, and want and demand instant success and gratification. In the Patriot's case I think that comes from the 20 year Dynasty run, where every season was supposed to end with a Lombardi. Now there is an entire generation of fans who experienced that almost every year, and think it’s the norm. But they aren’t alone, as we see on this board every day, as there are many who are clearly older than that generation who fully embrace the Felger model of ****ting on their every move, and any player who jumps offside in practice, and deem them busts who should be released but then squeal like little piglets when players are released, or aren’t replaced immediately by stars. One day they say they expect nothing short of the playoffs, the next they wail that they suck and won’t win more than 3-4 games, and that Vrabel doesn’t know what he’s doing, with some even going so far as to call for them to bring Bill and Bunny back. And even though that makes me nuts I suppose it’s all part of being a fan, and the insanity is just part of that experience. So it’s on to the season, and an 18 week rollercoaster ride of how great they are and how much they suck. Should be fun and enlightening, even the part where we watch our fellow fans throwing up all over themselves.

Current rules don’t allow bidding for PS players, so why would players from any team join a PS for a different team if the team that signed them and had them through camp wants them on the PS?

Just another stupid rule so multi billion $$$$ teams can save money on player expenses. Teams should be allowed to spend as much money on player development as they want, all that would do is improve the game.

Is anyone else kind of surprised Jacobs didn't end up on the PS? I thought he had a solid camp.

I think the minimum salary should be at least quadrupled. Regardless of how good each player is everyone who steps on that field takes a real risk and it's rediculous to have some guys making half a billion while another gets 25k a game with no guarantees.

PS yes…but I think (or hope) Thayer Munford might be a better RT.
