honestly, i didn't think he'd do it, trade him... even cincy coughed up dough for hendrickson... figured jerry would stick to his guns
Hendrickson tuned down a 3 year offer

Over guaranteed money.. took the 1y

The Bengals got exactly what they wanted - no future guaranteed money... the 3 year deal had zero guaranteed dollars past year 1. that's why hendrickson turned it down.

'Cause Mike Brown's balls would have to be in a vise to part with the kind of cash that big ass 3 year guaranteed contract would mean ponying up. The Ja'Marr Chase & Higgins deals took enough up front cash to put Brown in a coma, no way that skinflint was coughing it up again this year. Brown actually is the cheap ass owner Kraft routinely gets accused of being here.

GB took a big risks in my opinion. They obviously believe that they close to be contender. Parsons is an amazing player but where did he take the Cowboys the last 4 years exactly ? Not far.

They gave up Clark, I’ll admit that i don’t know who is on their DLine. I don’t know if having Parsons at 45M a year is better than having Clark + another good DLinemen or two with that cap.

In my opinion it is better to have 3-4 very good linemen like the Eagles last year than having only one guy like Parsons. You can mostly scheme something to slow down one guy. Much harder to handle multiple very good players. Bill was an expert at taking away guys like Parsons.

If GB doesn’t win a SB in the next two years, I think they will be in a bad spot.

I mean…he was on point…

I suspect Jerruh painted himself into a bit of a corner with the contracts he'd already given Dak & CeeDee. Throw in Parson's contract on top of those, there's half next year's cap going to 3 players. Those two 1st's (provided they hit) will help the Boys cap picture quite a bit

I'm probably in the minority but I think this is a lose-lose trade.

GB: They give up two first rounders likely around pick #28, and Clark. In return, the odds of winning the Super Bowl increased from ~ 5% (+1,850) to ~ 7% (+1,400). So the markets, at the moment are saying there is 93% they don't win the Super Bowl this year and the odds of winning only increased 2%. This was for the opportunity to pay Parsons ~ $47mm AAV per year (don't know all contract details yet). $47mm or 17% of the salary cap or 34% of salary cap for defense (assume 50/50 split for discussion). This doesn't seem the way to build a sustainably excellent franchise (see KC Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens). Parson's feels like an overpay but not sure. Injury risk is also not inconsequential when the player takes up so much cap space.

Dallas: It seems like it would have been challenging to pay Dak, Lamb, & Parsons such a large % of the salary cap and expect to be competitive year in and year out. So I can appreciate the logic of trading Parsons but the compensation seems lite. It's a tough sell to the fans and a bad look for Jones. Feels a bit like the Rafael Devers trade from Dallas standpoint. I think Dallas fans (and Red Sox fans) are wondering how come we didn't we get more.

Eagles gave up a 1st & 3rd I think for AJ Brown but only $32mm AAV and it worked for them. And Parson's is a better player. So that seems like a reasonable counterpoint. Maybe it's the $47mm AAV that is bothering me. Also, I'm surpised how little GB super bowl odds increase, very little impact. Maybe Parson's will attract other veteran free agents willing to play at below market contracts.

Curious what others think as I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this.

I know this was to pump Micah, but boy look at Aaron Donald

2300+ snaps, from the DT position, and hanging with with pure pass rushers

That guy might actually one of the Goats next to T. Lawrance
Lawrence Taylor, or Trevor Lawrence ?

troy polamalu says hold my beer.
Nah. Troy was terrible in coverage, but he made big plays around the LOS, Adams was just **** everywhere. And believe me, I'm not a Troy fan. I use to look forward to playing Pitt cause I knew Brady would expose him in coverage every single time.
