I liked them.

They were cutting edge modern and partially derived from the "Old Man of the Mountain" which is long gone. But, they were all New England.

The 1997 Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were also nice re-designs.

That's totally fair. It's the Jest though, so I'm satisfied with it being less a rivalry and more of a hammer-nail relationship.

On a related note: Since 1997...I have been wearing these game day jerseys of the longest tenured Patriots: Bledsoe-->Brown-->Bruschi-->Faulk-->Brady-->Brady-->Slater-->Andrews (over Cardona because he practiced 1st).

This year my options were in order: Dugger-->Jennings-->Onwenu. I would have gone for an Onwenu jersey if Dugger were traded and Jennings were cut/traded. Don't feel those two are long for the team at this time. And I needed something for week 1. So, I went with (drum roll):

A vintage Reebok white Mike Vrabel jersey! Found a good deal on an authentic jersey site....they were selling an Aaron Hernandez jersey for the same price...go figure (shrugs). Anyway....hope it is actually delivered to me and not a scam....deal was too good to pass up!

I'm sorry, I ain't buying this marketing rollout. The only bold piece is the helmet - the piece that fans don't wear. Otherwise it is a neutered, bland jersey that is flexible for fashion and can be sold in greater numbers to very casual fans/family members that aren't as invested in sports.

Listen, I like trying to bring people in. I don't like extremely blatant attempts at selling more merch.

But hey, that's the hill I'll be crotchety on for a bit, I can hold the fort down. If everyone else likes it, cool.

FOCO I know this because the guy across the cove from our summer place has one. I saw it on him and when I said "Interesting hat" (not meant as a compliment) he beamed with pride said "FOCO $36!" OFC pontoon boat guys tend to have sunny dispositions in a blissfully ignorant sort of way, he had no clue I thought it was every bit as dorkish as his boat.
