Onwenu is not moving to RT. Tried that, didn't work.
Not sure about that. Dude has looked solid this camp, unlike the previous two when he came in overweight.

If Moses goes down, do you think it's Marcus Bryant? Just because he has played surprisingly well, doesn't mean he'll hold up as a RT.

First, he has experience only on the left. And he's not faced much competition against starter-level talent.

Onwenu has not been at RT all camp. If Onwenu was moved to RT it would be after Moses, Bryant, and Lowe were injured.

Did you see Thuney at LT last year?

from my vantage point it appears that the
locks: Campbell, Wilson, Bradbury, Onwenu, Moses, Brown, Bryant
next up: Wallace, Lowe
longshot: Strange
potential PS: L Rob, Sow, Jacobs, Lindstrom

how many do they keep?
who becomes available from other rosters?

Yes, wherever Jared Wilson plays— whether center, my preference, or LG—he will be the best player on the OL. Even better than Fatty.

But that means the other position, likely center, will AGAIN be ranked at the very bottom.

And if they play Garrett Bradbury at center, there’s going to be A LOT of pressure coming up the gut on pass plays.

He’s capable in the run game. But in pass protection one sees why Minnesota gave up on him. He’s irredeemably bad. (Ben Brown is the very opposite.)

And TreVeyon Henderson, our pass-blocking superstar at the RB position, may get injured blocking a 300+ lineman coming free all the sudden. Because Bradbury cannot pass block worth a damn.

Another ****up by Eliot.

Center by committee lol Bradbury gets obvious run downs and Brown obvious pass downs. Not so obvious plays just get run with whichever one was out there already.

Yes, it will be Bryant.

He played RT in his early college years, even if he did play LT across from Membou at RT in his last year, for Missouri.

And his collegiate record indicates he’ll hold up just fine.

From SI’s pre-draft evaluation:
Marcus Bryant certainly doesn't lack experience nor size. He was Missouri's starting left tackle in 2024 after starting at six games at right tackle, and 26 at left tackle for SMU from 2021-2023. Bryant is a bully as a run blocker, and a wall as a pass blocker.

THEY ALL SUCKED LAST YEAR
Sow
Robinson
Robinson
Wallace
Brown

Some were injured.

There was a very low bar, but Brown and Wallace looked better this year, and better than the alternatives (except for Strange).

The Sow could've performed better at Left Guard than Wallace ever will. The dude's a Right-side lineman only who has neither the background nor athletic chops for the left side.

After Moses, Bryant is the Next Man Up, for now. If Jellybean is injured or isn't cutting the mustard, then Low becomes Next Man Up. By that time there would likely be a trade or signing to re-fill the rotation...

If Quinnen Williams has to face LG Ben Brown, he won't need to take the little blue pills that week.

Big smiles.

Hundred percent agreement. You know what this means, don't you?

Our OL coaching is bad. Which means our OL will be bad. Which means another season in rebuild mode.

The fact Marrone and his two assistants put Sow on the right side and he performed so miserably is a red flag for me.

The two guys to replace Dante now run the shows in New York and Houston.

Carmen Bricillo with the Giants. Notice how well their OL was coached? And Cole Popovich with the Texans who was recently promoted. Bricillo left with McDaniels to go to Las Vegas. And Popovich refused to get the Covid jab, and was forced to leave.

It's been bad news on the Patriots OL ever since. We hope former head coach Doug Marrone can turn things around.

But questions loom. Now that the shortened preseason is over, we don't know two of the five starters.

One of the surprises this season will be the dramatic improvement of the Texans OL who go into the season ranked last.

New England cast off--Jake Andrews--is their starting center.

And Cole Popovich, whom I've been relentlessly promoting for a long time now, shows his gratitude to Dante, saying he owes it all to him. It starts at 2.40.

Except that part where Strange is still running with the 1’s and 2’s at multiple positions including center…. and oh yeah, entering the final year of his contract.

Whereas Wallace and Robinson are locked into low cost mid round contracts for years to come and still aren’t playing good enough to start. Why doesn’t the vet Robinson have a leg up on rookie Wilson, never mind Strange… oh yeah, because he isn’t good enough.

Even though you could make the case that Strange was vastly over drafted, prior to his knee injury you could also make the case he was a decent starting LG. I think we all underestimated the effect of his knee injury on the level of his play.

I can see a team signing him to a vet minimum deal and stash him on IR for a year, where he would could be bargain if another year rehabbing makes a positive difference

I said Strange was a candidate to get cut before the offseason even began, his contract was up after this season. Either they pay him or play him, Jared Wilson made him expendable.

The clarification is it sucks, particularly the depth on the interior, and the starting interior could use an upgrade too. But I think we will be adding at least some pieces and we kind of box ourselves in with Bradbury.

The only player I had correct on this exercise was Caeden Wallace.
For the poll I had currrent Arizona Cardinal Demontrey Jacobs in over Vederian Lowe.

Actually I had two correct answers, thanks to the final option on the poll.

A lot of people were upset that the Pats passed on Logan Brown and Seth McLaughlin. Both were available on waivers, and the Pats passed again.

By the time of the start of this thread, Brown and Bryant seemed to be locks as part of the 7, and we all expect to keep 2-3 backups. to the seven.
===============
Vrabel chose Lowe over Jacobs as a 4th OT.

Wallace was the only backup OG Vrabel thought worthy of a roster spot.

I still think that we should add a 10th, hopefully a veteran LG to replace Strange who was my failed choice.

Aren't they still available?

There are many on the 31 Practice Squad's that we could sign. None are deemed worthy of a spot on the 53 by any team.

As is usually the case, very few are claimed. The best we got last year was Jacobs. This year we signed a 6th DB/STer. Many of those were available. We also signed a #3 QB. Maybe we will get something out of one of them, perhaps not. The do fill open roster spots.

There was only one OG claimed. We chose not to claim Xavier Truss. No other guards were claimed. All are still available.

Perhaps one the OG's on the Practice Squads is worthy of a 3-week trial on the patriots, perhaps not.
