Very interested to see what happens with Bourne. I've always been a supporter because I love what he brings with attitude and locker room presence... but, it seems Hollins may be similar as far as a WR room vet to lead in the important (Slater like) ways.
Diggs has the most cache when it comes to career and stats, but he's not a leader. We need someone like Bourne or Hollins.
And... it may become Boutte by the quiet sounds of how he is being viewed inside the walls.
Uh, Hollins is most definitely not that kind of leader, or any kind of leader. He'll be the Mark the Bird Fidrych of the locker room.

What kind of leader is Bourne? I don’t remember any praise sent his way during his time here for being a great leader. Maybe there’s articles/interviews I’ve forgotten about??

I was just talking about Hollins

I know, but I’ve seen other posters talk about his leadership. Never really seen any hard evidence of this. Kinda an urban legend imo

This was created out of the idea he is weird so people must like him.
Hes on his 5th team in 5 years so the other 4 didn’t see value in his leadership I guess.
He seems more like a clown than a leader.

I'd bet another round of cuts come today, and they finish up tomorrow before practice.

Well at least Barefoot clown Hollins: knows how to find the soft zones in McDaniels Offense.

fidrych was a great teammate and i know because we were teammates. a little goofy but funny as hell. kept things light. it's terrible what happened to him on his farm in our hometown in northboro.

Yes, I didn't say Hollins wasn't going to be a good teammate.

But do say more about you being teammates with Fidrych. Would love to read it.

not sure if you're yanking my chain but i can tell you i was mediocre but he was great even in LL....wicked curve and conveniently wild. when teams would learn it was me pitching and not him they were thrilled.

I really wanted to hear about it. I just didn't know you meant Little League!

i played with and against him in LL, babe ruth, legion, and we both pitched at algonquin. he would talk to the ball but he was really just talking to himself. when we were not playing a game he was super funny. made practices go by and less boring. all around great guy.

edit...moved out to the bay area and my brother and i turned on the tv and there was fidrych pitching for the tigers on the saturday game of the week and we looked at each other like....whaaat ? what happened to us but we both knew we were scrubs. i couldn't even make my college team at clark or cal state hayward. didn't even try at san diego state where i finally graduated. sdsu had some really good teams.....just think tony gwynn.

My prediction is that we'll have at least one new name at OL on the 53 that's not currently with the team as they used #4 on the waiver wire to their advantage.

I think we'll see the practice squad used to stash some guys that probably deserve to be on the 53 to make room for additional players moved in and out after Week 1 and salaries are no longer guaranteed.

Keeping just 2 QBs and 2 TEs and maybe even just 3 RBs will help give them that flexibility. Those on that bubble are probably safe to make it to the practice squad.

That’s the point though, he doesn’t. His catches per playing time is horrifically bad.

That’s maybe a little unfair. Hollis obv is on the field a lot on running plays throughout his career, where other “more efficient” WRs would come off the field maybe in favour of 12 personnel. He’s also a number 3 or 4 WR throughout his career, so he’s most certainly not the first or even second read. He is what he is, a # 3-5 WR depending on the WR room around him. Big guy they use in the run game.

I don't really have a judge on his leadership he's only been off the PUP a few weeks now.

But I did hear a comment the other day that made me wonder. I can't remember who the player was but he was talking about how Hollins talks more trash than anyone he's played with.

The player was sort of laughing about it and it left me wondering what he really felt I couldn't tell if he felt like he was doing it in way where the team gets behind it and he's writing checks that they collectively are going to cash or if he felt like he's role player writing checks that the starters will have to cash.

I guess it's hard to tell if he's a goof in a way that everyone loves and will rally behind or the annoying class clown kind of way. He's definitely got a personality to him that's for sure.

Can he be the Kevin Millar kind of leader?
