Based on reports from media at practice and what I have seen in the preseason game. Do you not agree that the defense is in a better position currently?
Hard to say until they play games.
I have t seen either side of the ball game plan.
I haven’t seen either side of the ball get attacked for its weaknesses.
I haven’t seen either side of the ball at full strength.

Are you saying the media is always right? Are you saying preseason games where starters either okay about 7 snaps or don’t play at all are indicative of what the team will be?

Are you saying you aren’t worried about run d? About the outside pass rush? About the injuries use in the secondary?
Regardless of which you perceive to be better both sides of the ball would be better if they add good players.

Bourne is 30 years old. I'm not sure their is much more to "unlock" at this point.
Agree; I'm thinking Baker over Bourne, as a final WR is expected to play ST.
That role is more suited for a 23-year old than a 30-year old.

There's a good chance that we're not going to be a very good team this year. That means a mid-round first pick. That might be worth more than a 2-3 year deal and break the bank salary for a great DE.
There’s a good chance we are a better team with Hendrickson. We have to do what is necessary to win. Wasting a year is foolish.

Thanks: I was thinking 8 for some reason. That's why they're so quiet on his front makes sense.
I get it though, because they’ve changed the rules a lot over the last dozen seasons. Initially it was an 8 week requirement. Post Covid they’ve loosened things up. Can recall up to 8 players now (only up to 2 of which can be immediately put on IR at cut downs) plus an extra 2 can be recalled in the postseason, and the wait is 4 games minimum on IR. Still have the rule that once they begin practicing, they must be activated within 21 days or they revert to season-ending IR.

I think Bourne would be so much better with Diggs drawing Elite coverage.
I dunno man, he's going to have to show it on the field at this point. He looked a lot closer to 'washed' than 'career resurgence' last time we saw him.

No wonder Polk thinks he still have a chance.

True, but it should be Bourne over Hollins too
AJ I wasn't high on him either; but with those catches in Practice and games: barefoot Hollins is making a believer outta me.

Yes - but I'm thinking that with the contract he was given ($3.5 million guaranteed) the front office may lean his way.
Bourne being sidelined doesn't help his cause, which in turn helps Hollins' case.

On the other hand $2.8 million of Bourne's pro-rated signing bonus gets accelerated with a cut, plus he is two years younger.

I just don't know how the team will go here; guess we'll have to wait and find out in six days.

Until you find out he can’t get open in a real game.

@jimnance @Zuma @manxman2601: Two receivers that really caught my eyes Pre Draft; who seem to come out of nowhere were (((dum roll))).

Detroit didn't need another Elite WR.
From what I've seen on X, Teslaa is doing well.

Dude..go touch some grass. I simply said I think the line is the priority. Not paying a small fortune to a guy who is on the backside of his career. You cant simply accept the fact that I dont agree.

I can accept the fact that you don’t agree, I am asking you to support your opinion.
Isn’t funny how you ask a question and I answer it and I ask one and you act like I offended you.

I know you don’t agree. I am providing evidence for how I support my opinion. If you dint want to support yours go ahead, it’s not a very good way to change my mind though

He's well ahead of Baker in that regard.
TBD. You aren’t going to keep baker to win games now, you keep him because he has a future.
If you are keeping Hollins to win games now you are making a mistake, if you are keeping him as the last man in the bench you are making a different mistake

I wasn't expecting to pick Hollins and Chism. I would have guessed somehow Polk and Baker would have won this battle. But for me I think it's pretty clear Chism and Hollins played better than Polk, Baker, and Bourne. I even think there's a chance one or both could have passed Boutte too and not to Boutte's fault he had a good start to camp and has been consistent since I just think there's a decent chance the last week from Chism and Hollins was better than the best Boutte has put on tape.

Right now I see it as
Diggs, Pop, and Hollins getting the bulk to start.

Boutte, Chism, and Williams will very much still be in the mix with some time letting it all shake out. I think Boutte probably starts the year as the 4th GameDay active.

Baker, Polk, and Bourne are headed to PS, IR (possibly DTR), or another team.

I dont care to change your mind. Please link me to the evidence that supports your opinion. Everything you have said is your opinion. I respect that you have an opinion but please dont call it evidence.

If you didn’t care to change my mind you wouldn’t keep responding.
Of course I provided evidence to support my belief that it would be a good idea to sign a really good edge rusher.

Do you dispute we are weak at the position? Have little depth?
Do you dispute that run D is a concern?
Do you dispute the secondary isn’t a health concern?

That’s all known as evidence of why it would make sense to add a top caliber edge rusher to make the team better.

In addition I addressed your evidence of camp reports, which I think bad can all agree aren’t very good predictors of what they team will look like, and preseason games which arent all the starters playing together in a game plan scenario and only playing a handful of snaps.

If you think those are strong evidence that the defense is going to dominate and doesn’t need a better edge pass rush, I don’t agree.

The wild card is Bourne injury, hard to make the club from the tub. Hopefully he goes on IR-DTR because if we have a WR injury we are going to need him.
