I’d rather have…

Campbell-Brown-Wilson-Onwenu-Moses

than

Campbell-Wilson-Bradbury-Onwenu-Moses

Bradbury is a liability…more so then Brown at LG
They can give Wilson a month or two to really get comfortable at C and then have him replace Bradbury. Keeping Brown at LG helps Campbell who may lean on him for help as the veteran. Brown is not going to blow anyone away but if he can be decent then it will pay dividends once Wilson is ready.

Let's hope Brown is a backup. Maybe S Sow at LG if we are lucky. It looks like Strange is limited, and Bradbury is limited too. Hopefully Bryant and Sow surprise on the OL.

I’d prefer Sow, L. Robinson or Strange at LG than Brown but I have faith in the coaches.

Was the broadcast extremely dark for everyone or was it just YouTubeTV's feed?

I was pleasantly surprised by the D. If they can keep it up, we have a chance.

Brown's worst run-blocking snaps occurred at 00:40, 1:00 & 01:30. And during each of those times, Bradbury ****ed-up even worse than he did.

I hope that the rest of Wilson's available pre-season/practice snaps are taken at Center. After all, isn't that the reason David Andrews was released and Wilson drafted in the first place?

My plan for LG therefore would be:
- Roll the dice with Strange69, Brown or Sidy the Sow; Wallace, the Robinsons & Messy Butler should be Nobody's idea of a viable option there, or anywhere else for that matter. Lindstrom is a Center-Only.
- Sign somebody currently on the street to take over as soon as he's acclimated;
- Claim somebody on Cut-Down Day;
- Trade for somebody; we might receive a player better than those acquired via any of the previous methods, but the cost of course would be higher, just hopefully not prohibitively higher.

Interesting 2nd unit on OL with Dobbs - Strange at RG, and Lowe at RT.

I still think Lowe has a tougher time making the 53 than Strange. Just because Wallace & Bryant can play both Tackle positions if needed, and at this point Wallace is a younger, more versatile guy (at LG) than Lowe. And Strange can also play the 3 IOL spots.
With Wilson, Wallace & Strange - you have a ton of versatility. And Brown too (who may end up starting if the game was any indication of how they see him vs. Strange/Wilson)

Just Say No to Wallace, anywhere, except maybe the Practice Squad.

And Wilson's basically a Novice at LG too.

That’s no longer necessary. Current rules allow two players to go directly to IR-DTR on cutdown day. Makes it very likely Bourne will be IR-DTR to start the season.
There are others who might be one of the two, surely Dial, perhaps Polk, perhaps even Willimas or Stevenson.

In any case, we essentially have 55 players, two of which can't play for at least a month.

I am perplexed with both Sow and Strange.

Strange looked solid in 2023 in a similar scheme before hurting himself, now he barely plays. I have to think he is really limited by that injury and it’s not something he can fix, which is too bad.

Sow should also be good because he was previously good in 2023 as well, and he hasn’t had nearly as bad of an injury as Strange. I expected him to just pick right back up but instead he’s been pretty quiet.

I’m very curious to see how these two are used in the final preseason game.

I thought Minor was terrible, constantly giving away yards & catches. I think he's just another useless 6th-/7th-round CB/Safety, of whom we've had too many the last few years or so.
He was definitely making some mistakes but he had a few good plays too, and has good size. Special teamer mainly. None of the other depth DBs really stood out that much except Polk on the TD saving tackle.

You realize how much of a crapshoot 7th rounders are right? Decent majority across the league do nothing.

Sow seemed to do well against the Vikes, in limited duty. I wonder if he and Strange been brought along slowly so all the rookies and new guys could get lots of work and evaluation. Now that it’s getting close to showtime they’re being worked into the mix while the newbies are being shuffled around to get ready for the final cutdown.

I don’t trust anyone’s crystal ball looking at the final OL roster yet, especially not any reporters and even less anyone else outside the team coaching staff. It’s still in a state of flux.

I did watch the video. In the first case, there were 2 options. The option Orlovsky was pushing for (Douglas) required him looking off the safety as you said. The Williams option didn’t require that and was open immediately. The second case didn’t require it looking off the safety at all, just trusting his arm.

It’s both — he needs to learn the finer art of QBing more, and learn to be less conservative.
Not only looking off the safety; but also (particularly once he rolled out right) throwing back across his body to the opposite sideline. That is like the 2d biggest qb “no-no”-no-…oh ****. (right after heaving one up while being sacked. ).

Douglas correctly identified that he was in a zone and sat in the hole. Maye did not and led him on the corner he was running. I suspect this is a lingering effect of switching from the WC system back to the EP. With the EP, unlike the WC, you take what the defense gives you. The QB and receiver have to see and recognize the same thing in order for the EP to work.

I've said many times that going from the EP to the WC is like going from writing right hand to writing left hand. It's not simple- and now they're switching back to the EP.

No matter what happens within the next few years, Vrabel and McD have got to stay put for consistency's sake, otherwise we're no better than the Jets installing a new HC, a new system, literally every year. Their tree never bears fruit because it's not allowed the necessary time to grow and bloom.
This might be my all time favorite (non-sarcastic) post. TY!

Agreed here, there’s a fair amount of motivational mind tricks likely being played, a lot of tough love. We’ll see on opening day.
