None have really left NE and gone on to have success.

Teakwood is winning vs backups and starters in camp trying not to get injured.
Generally true, but…

Listening to the Raiders game today Jakobi Meyers was getting a lot of love from the announcing team.

And we’ll have to see if Tyquan sticks and how he does in the season.

I don't like Wallace at guard. And I think Campbell, Moses, and Bryant have stepped up more than most of the receivers. That said I'd probably prefer to keep Wallace too as a 5th tackle. But as a 3rd rounder there's also a better chance we could get him to PS than Polk.

I was late to the party but I've come on board the Chism band wagon. He's easily earned WR5 over the guys I'm complaining haven't stepped up. And I might even argue he's earned WR4 over Williams though I'm not quite ready to go there yet.

I honestly don’t know who deserves the back up lines positions and who doesn’t. From the limited amount I have seen from them I can’t make a sound judgement on it. I’ll be fine with whomever they take, as I trust their judgement on it. And draft status doesn’t play any role imo, just take the best players who can help long term.

As far as the WR’s go I don’t see them as #1, #2,…., I see them playing a variety of roles, with Diggs Williams, and Boutte getting more of the work downfield, Douglas and Chism getting the most out of the slot, and Hollins as a boundary possession receiver to spread the field. And I think that’s the best way to put together a receiving corps, as you need to be able to threaten deep, wide, and underneath to force defenses to defend as much ground as possible. So I think final cutdown will reflect that model, with receivers playing different roles in MacDaniels offense. That’s one of the reasons that I see Chism as having a big advantage over Polk, Baker, Bourne, and even Hollins, as none of them can play the Edelman/Welker role that MacDaniels loves, and Chism fits that profile perfectly. And I really believe you are going to see him catch at least 60-70 passes this season, maybe more. He can play special teams on both offense and defense, which will make him active on game day, and he’s going to be Msyes safety valve under pressure, finding holes underneath coverage and bailing Maye out.

best at dropping

He was actually a great possession receiver in college, the problem is that you still have to be able to get separation at the pro level, and he hasn’t shown that ability. And the ability to get separation isn’t just about speed and quickness, it’s about the ability to get leverage on a defender, and turn them the wrong way while you take advantage of that to create space. A great route runner that runs in the 4.5’s can be better at getting separation than a guy who runs a 4.3 when they know how to leverage defenders and the 4.3 doesn’t. Polk needed to be a great route runner to create separation, and so far he hasn’t shown that.

I think one of the reasons they have been giving Baker so much of an opportunity to make this team is that they think he could replace Diggs role if he goes down during the season, whereas Polk and Bourne couldn’t. And I think that will be their selling point if they try to get him to the practice squad, that he will be their first guy off of the bench when there is an injury.

That’s the catch with Waiving Baker, is that he could POTENTIALLY replace what Diggs can do on certain routes.

I think he makes it as. Special teamer or the first guy who can replace Diggs.

He’s not a special teamer, they are taking a look at him there to see if he could ever make a game day active roster. And he went 1-7 on targets yesterday, which can’t help him make the 53. I think he will be released and they will try to sign him to the practice squad.

The only question with releasing him is whether they think someone else will sign him to their practice squad, or would he rather sign here. I don’t think any team would sign him to their 53 man roster. Given that he’s familiar with the Patriots organization, and has some hope of getting to the real roster via injury I think it’s likely he will sign here.

He is playing special teams, you either do or do not.

The coaches will also recognize like they did with Kyle Williams that Baker was let down by poor QB play… outside of Dobbs padding his stats with a wide open Chism he was terrible. Sailing passes high, throwing a hospital ball to Williams.

He did hit Baker in the hands on that sideline route where the DB undercut it. It was one of Dobbs' few professional throws of the preseason so far.

Baker should have caught that, it was a high degree of difficulty catch, but if it hits your hands you should get it.

That being said the majority of Dobbs targets to Baler were high or out of reach. Baker was set up on the sideline on a third down that would have extended the drive… the ball was so high Baker couldn’t get his feet down and floated out of bounds. Dobbs isn’t accurate.

Baker has one more game to separate himself, he needs a show out game… hopefully for him Ben Wooldridge will be at QB.

Chism is most likely making camp.
Y'all can complain all you want, but you'll be incorrect.
I stand by my thought process of not buying Chism being a shoe-in months ago.

That was then, this is now. Yesterday was about as conclusive as it gets that the staff see him as part of the 53. The fight ahead for him is no longer about just making the team.

The word is "BALLER"
Get as many of those Mofos as you can.

He had his chances yesterday. NFW you can blame the QB for all 6 of his missed targets.

Dude sucks; never should've been drafted here in the first place.

And same as with sloPolk, No Team will claim Either of them on Cut-Down Day; so sign him to the PS if you must, but I'd prefer to just be rid of him forever.

If I were either of them, I would prefer some other team's Practice Squad.

Did I do that ^

No, I went through each target and blamed Baker for the one or two he was responsible for. The rest were on Dobbs… who sucks.

Odd how you can eviscerate “weapons” you dislike, but can’t acknowledge crappy QB play?

Dobbs sucks too. No argument from me there.
