Speak of the devil...

This is the second or third time I've seen them mention Brown playing guard, specifically left guard. They may just be getting him reps to get a good look and give him some positional diversity. It's a lot easier to go from center to guard than it is to go from guard to center.

There's a world in which Wilson transitions to center in 2026, and Brown becomes the starting left guard.

In order to stick Brown needs OG/C versatility. Can't make the team as just a backup OC.

I was thinking that, too. Might want to see how good of a guard he can be.

Awe screw it I quit. I have no clue what the hell is going on with the interior OL. So much shuffling, Bradbury missing a few practices, whatever is going on with Strange, are Sow/Wallace any good, and anything else I'm missing.

I guess we know that Onwenwu seems to be the stabilizing factor and that they definitely like Wilson.

I think it means one of 2 things. Either they feel he has made the team and are giving him reps at different spots, or there is a big battle for the bottom of the roster and they still don’t know if he belongs yet.
In a vacuum the first seems more likely but after watching him play last year the second would make more sense.

I know he's not a rookie, and that Ben Brown is much much older, but effectively this is Brown's 2nd season on the roster of an NFL team. Hard to call a guy with 10 games an experienced veteran. Being a rookie is a whole other thing, I get it, but I doubt Ben Brown has an advantage because of his "experience."

Not worth over-analyzing depth linemen spots. The starters are pretty well-established, so it makes some sense to give guys who are likely to make the roster as backups some reps at other spots so that the team can have a good understanding of what they can and can't do. So for instance, Brown may be the 2nd C but if Wilson and his backup (let's say Strange) both get hurt, the team will know if Brown is capable of manning the role as a 3rd guy. Same reason they primarily use Bryant at RT but also give him some reps at LT.

On a side note, kudos to the front office for finding Bryant in the 7th round. Kid looks like he could become the starting RT in a year or two.

I think that Hollins has produced more with MAYE than Chism has.

In any case, Chism has indeed produced the 6th most.

This is Brown's fourth year "in the league" even if a lot of that was on practice squads. He played in college as a guard and center, and is 27 years old. Compare that to Wilson who is a true rookie, most of his college career being as a backup and just 1 year of starting experience at center, and is only 22 years old. Fact is, Brown's seen a lot more **** than Wilson.

Red zone 1v1s:- Stefon Diggs W on a slant- Pop Douglas PBU on an out (thrown inside)- Kyle Williams drop after getting open on a dig- Efton Chism fights to get open on a corner and attacks the ball for a completion - Javon Baker throws defender off him for an out completion- Pop Douglas shakes free over the middle- Jeremiah Webb goes up for a contested fade completion- Stefon Diggs draws DPI on slant- Kayshon Boutte slant completion- Efton Chism stutters at the top of his route gets wide open over the middle - Mack Hollins fade incompletion - Kyle William gets physical to get wide open on an out completion- DeMario Douglas incompletion on short corner throw (Vrabel coached him to come back to the ball)- Javon Baker gets open on slant completion- Kayshon Boutte fade completion

absolutely agree... its an invaluable experience, and one of the main reasons why teams have joint practices...

There will be growing pains on the line this season, but I have been stoked since they drafted Will Campbell in the 4 spot... the emergence of Jared Wilson has been a pleasant surprise...

now, just fix the center and right side and we are good for a decade
From what I've been gleaning Pape, it looks as if they would be better off with Brown or Strange at Center (which is not a great prospect by any means), as Bradbury just can't seem to pass-protect (which was a problem when he was in MN). Your thought's?
