My point is they actually signed him to a contract. The evaluation should have been done ahead of time before they offered him a contract.
Some things they can’t.

My point is that it doesn’t matter if he’s such a snowflake about getting cut a day or two after signing. It happens a lot.

Two of the top 3 CBs for the Vikings are JAGs & they are starting a 36 year old safety in Harrison Smith. A lot of their defense was attributed to great coaching but they got exposed at the end of the year. McDaniels & Flores are obviously familiar with eachother but I’m expecting some good back and forth in joint practices.

For some of us, Larison was the #4 RB on the 53. We could use a roster spot for a FB but that is a different issue.

I don't think that anyone is competing for the #4 RB roster spot. We do need players to take RB reps until the cutdown. We also need competition for the Practice Squad. I would keep two there. There is plenty of room on a 16-man squad.

Personally I felt either Larsison or Lampe - or both - would make the roster - but that's just this armchair gm/fan's opinion.

Among the rest of the running backs - Shane Watts, JaMycal Hasty, Terrell Jennings - while I agree none are anything to be excited about at this point (camp fodder), I also believe the team would be best served with more than three RB/FBs on the roster. My guess is that the Patriots will pick up a RB or FB that gets cut by another team. Roster cutdown date is just two weeks away, August 26.

I agree. No one on the current roster is worthy of a spot beyond the 3 RB's and 2 TE's. We need a real player.

Maybe there's a Jennings, Bourne, or Dugger trade available for someone else's excess backage who is a little better than a cutdown player.

Either way with the shortage of offensive weapons 7 WR's is more possible, especially if Baker is considered special teams, and Hollins does special teams plus 3rd TE.

Yeah it will be a learning experience, both for Maye and also the WRs. There will be missed throws, receivers in the wrong spot, timing issues. As they get more practice and time in the system as the weeks go on, that will improve. I am guessing they are going to lean heavily on the run game in the first month or even two months to help balance that out. Thankfully, it looks like they will be a pretty good rushing team.
Just like Vrabels last team.

I think Vrabel has pushed McDaniels to really develop the run game first, and it showed in preseason game 1.

One thing I found interesting is that they used runs to the left side so much, even though theoretically they will probably be better running to the right behind Onwenu and Moses. That said, Wilson and Campbell are plenty strong too, so they may be good going both ways. Bradbury is a mauler in the run game as well, even if he sucks in pass pro.

I find it a constant source of a combination of irony and hilarity that some people think it is easy to unload unwanted players to other teams for REAL draft assets. Right now there are likely a half dozen kids on each team that are doing for their team what Chism, James, Bryant, etc are doing for ours. EVERY teams' fan base are figuring out which perceived "overpaid" vet some other dumb team will be willing to part with draft assets so they can keep their binky.

So it's not like we are the only ones doing it, it's just that in the real world it happens so rarely.

I didn't say draft assets.

My post specifically referred to player for player where teams might have opposite positional needs to ours.

That is good news because McDaniels had a tendency to abandon the run game in more than a few losses.

Henderson scares me some the way he plays with Gronk like recklessness.

I’m hoping Vrabel can help curb McDaniels’ tendencies there somewhat.

For what it's worth (nothing), new jersey numbers, per the Pats website:

RB Shane Watts, signed Aug 12 - #30
DT Kyle Peko, signed Aug 11 - #72
DT Jereme Robinson, signed Aug 10 - no uniform #, no profile photo
