Hollins As A Special Teamer

other than Hollins, some of the back end roster players may have a leg up on other players at their positions given their ST play.
Truman Jones, M Mapu appear to have all 4 phases of ST play on their resumes.

Like I was saying, Baker playing special teams well and being a physical threat on offense should get him rostered. He is the future. If not for Morgan Moses, Hollins would be the oldest player on the team.
Keeping Baker does not mean Hollins is cut or should be. Baker the future? Lets see how the rest of camp and preseason go before we anoint him as the future...
Who starts in practice/preseason is fleeting.

But the athleticism is ELITE !!!

So? Can't have 53 all-pros on your roster. Nothing wrong with reserves and special teamers on the roster.

Please.
His last 4 teams didn’t want him back.
I mean sure we could fill a roster with guys who have hung on at the bottom of a roster, but when they hit 32 what are they really contributing as a WR 5 or 6? Would it be better to keep a guy with upside for that role?

So? What does one team's personnel decision have to do with the Patriots?

Who said we are cutting someone of value to keep Hollins? We aren't there yet.

of course it would
Hollins was signed before WIlliams and Chism were drafted/signed and before Diggs signed.
it is becoming apparent those 3, plus Pop are ahead of Hollins.
if the team keeps 7 wr's, I assume Hollins is safe. if they keep 6 wr's, it will come down to Bourne, Hollins and Baker (Polk injured)

You brought it up… now you don’t want to discuss it. Fine.

I already said “if” Baker continues this upward trajectory.

@Wozzy: you're way off with Baker you're going to be disappointed. We've have seen this movie before with clueless young Patriots WR's.

I didn’t take a stand with Baker, but I also didn’t create a bounty of tweets suggesting Baker was playing well… the NE media did that. I’m just going off what is being reported.

You actually brought up Baker this morning.

I made the statement way back his progress bears watching.

I don't want to discuss what?

“Hollins is a proven NFL pro, Baker is not.”

That ^ was your quote, if you didn’t think there was a discussion to be had then why comment?

The last roster spots at WR will come down to a couple guys. I’m saying Hollins will get preferential treatment, potentially over a guy who deserves it more. We’ll see…

Didn't think there was a discussion to be had about that. Hes been in the league 7 years.

@Steve102 I'm now walking barefoot like MAck Hollins. He's now my cult hero.

Diggs-Pop-Boutte-Williams-Hollins-Baker-Chism = 7, with Hollins/Baker also playing ST's and Chism as backup punt returner. It's possible they need to try sneaking Baker onto the PS, but he's the only one with a chance of making it through waivers.

Polk & Bourne will be gone. Can't see parting with 3rd rounder Williams, or $4m Hollins, or rising star Chism.
