OT: Josh Simmons steal of draft

In fairness, the Pats could have traded down and Spencer Rattler was just sitting there when the Patriots drafted in the second round.

I all honesty, I actually wanted to consider trading down last year, but after how I saw how the QB board went, I am happy they drafted Maye.

I hated Rattler as a prospect. I would have been the one calling for Wolf to be fired had he passed on Maye and taken Rattler.

With our luck since the last Superbowl, Simmons would've been another Dominque Easley for us with injury problems not the stud he is so far in TC lol

I looked into it, nothing I have seen describes him the way Sam is portraying it. In fact it’s no different than the reviews Campbell has gotten, other than the fact that he got into a fight already.

I haven't posted since 2015, when the NFL suspended Tom Brady for the Ideal Gas Law. I decided that the Sinaloa and Cali cartels were more deserving of support than the one that calls itself the NFL. Haven't watched much since then and don't follow as closely. Lurk once in a while.

I haven't followed the draft discussion on the board very actively, but FWIW, here are a few thoughts:

General Thoughts

1. Every draft is different, there are opportunities and mistakes to be made every year. This one is thin at the top but very, very deep. If I compare this year's pool to last...

That said:

1. It's way too early too tell anything.

2. I hope Will Campbell makes me look like an absolute idiot for saying that.

Let's see what we've got before crying over perceived spillt milk.

That’s the difference. Even if you are right and he becomes pro bowler/Hall of Famer, you aren’t the kind that is going to gloat about it and make a whole bunch of threads how much smarter you were than everybody else followed by condemning the organization to eternal hell. You are still cheering for Cambell to succeed despite how you felt about either prospect.

I never understand why one would root for players to fail.

I had my doubts about Campbell. Would love to seem him succeed spectacularly.

Nix is one thing, but Rattler is bad. Many fans wanted MHJ and said get the QB next draft, which I argued against vehemently. If we did that, who would we have taken at QB this year at 4? I'm glad we chose the route we did. When you need a QB and you have belief in the guy, you take him, no questions asked.

Simmons might turn out to be a good player, but way too early to be making any kind of prognostications about steal of the draft. This time last year Polk was flashing in camp.

Supposedly he looks amazing so far in TC.
This could be another situation like Ladd Mcconkey where its obvious Pats picked the wrong player. Will Campbell will not be in the sane top tier as Simmons.

Its frikin week 2 of training camp. Give it a rest, and go back to the Jets forum where you belong.
