Thanks for the post. Hopefully Williams will be able to bulk up and avoid injury. Seems like a guy that kept getting better throughout college which is always a great sign. His 40 time suggests his speed is legit but not elite. He was a 3rd rounder, not a 1st rounder so he is a bit smaller and not a 4.3 guy. I think that is OK. I am excited about Williams, Diggs, and Douglas.Hoping Kyle Williams proves me dead wrong. I watched him a lot at WSU. Saw him play live quite a bit. He’s fast, quick, and sudden for sure. A threat to take it all the way whenever he touched it in college. I wasn’t sure he quite had that home run speed at the nfl. Still not sure. My main concern with him was durability. Seemed like he was always dinged up. I’ve heard nothing but good things about his work eithic, though. I’m excited to watch him as a Patriot. So far he looks great. Really hoping he becomes a Star with the Patriots.
Remember the one year when Parcells was whining about behind held hostage by one position?I really hope he becomes a contributor. Having a legit C is more important than ppl think. Unsexy : but crucial.
Last year is history. What matters is what they do this year. “Past performance is not indicative of future results.”We should just cut Douglas… he only led us in every single stat that matters by a WR last season.
Yeah, suddenly RT is looking shaky. But maybe Lowe is the better backup? It seems to me that beyond the play, the most interesting development is that Wallace was used at left guard, and not right tackle.
From what I've read Moses had a horrible day, which isn't a great concern, except D Jacobs is backing him up.
I never thought Robinson was that good, and it's early, but what are they doing?
The TE on that side can chip the DE? Moses is probably OK if the outside rush is held up slightly.Yeah, suddenly RT is looking shaky. But maybe Lowe is the better backup?
40 times are overrated. Plenty of great NFL WRs with 40 times similar or slower that never seem to get caught from behind and have plenty of deep receptions. Antonio Brown, Deion Branch..... I'm not worried about his speed, he will make plenty of long plays. He looks like a slick mover, and creating separation makes his 40 time less important. If you run a 4.4 but you've created separation no defender is catching him when their 5-10 yards away. He's bigger than both those aforementioned guys as well. Justin Jefferson ran a 4.43 and he's pretty decent. I'm not saying speed isn't important, but it is certainly not the be all end all. Thanks for the post. Being able to create separation when he wants to is a powerful weapon. He can move the sticks, and defenders have to respect that so he also has the potential to break one past them if they give him too much respect. It’s a nice combination for him to have.40 times are overrated. Plenty of great NFL WRs with 40 times similar or slower that never seem to get caught from behind and have plenty of deep receptions. Take your Zoloft
Williams is the type of WR who doesn’t need a blazing 40 because he’s so slick in all his other moves and cuts that the defense has to defend almost every route. That bit of hesitation that they have to give watching what he’s doing makes up for him not being insanely fast in a straight line. Thanks for the post. If this duo can stay healthy they are going to be a ****in problem for most IOL, interior pass can impact the play significantly because the QB doesn't have the ability/room to step up in the pocket. Those 2 in the middle will allow the LBs and Edge rushers a lot of 1v1 opportunities.
I don't think I have been this excited for a Pats D since the early 2000's

They didn’t have a center, and I don’t remember what he did to fill the hole, but I am sure the Pats paid through the nose.
Agree. But I still wish Williams was a bit bigger. 5'11" and 190 lbs. is tough to stay healthy in the NFL. He should be good to great for 4 to 6 years.Williams is the type of WR who doesn’t need a blazing 40 because he’s so slick in all his other moves and cuts that the defense has to defend almost every route. Honestly, at the time probably Noel. But I may have been wrong to do so.Whom would you have drafted first: Williams or Iowa State's Jaylin Noel?
I think wilfork is too old to playI wish we had Wilfork/Barmore or Wilfork/Williams instead of Barmore/Williams.
