Day two of training camp is done, and it is still early but I am calling out Polk. He is still AWOL and has nothing to offer this team this year. His best case scenario is to get put on IR for a the whole year with Foxboro Flu and then take a one last shot in 2026. I predict he is not making the 53 in 2025.

Williams and Diggs looked good today.

Pop and Boutte got some work with the ones too.

Even with Polk out no one else really stood out so I would hold off on making any conclusions based on today. Obviously hold last year against him all you want though.

He had offseason shoulder surgery so too early to tell.

Our WR corps may be deep in bodies but not in talent.

He has an opportunity to make something of his career. Shouldn't be giving up on him just yet.

Apparently, he passed his physical or he'd be on TC PUP.

Just because he didn't practice doesn't mean he'd be/should be on TC PUP. He can pass a physical and not practice. Maybe his shoulder is sore. Maybe he has the flu. Who knows.

still early for that
lets see what happens

$8.2M of his $9.6M rookie deal was guaranteed, his current dead money hit would be $6.4 over 2 years

They would take the hit.

And it is way too early to tell.

I didn't in any way intimate they wouldn't. He doesn't show them something in TC I doubt they'll think twice about cutting him loose.
That said, there's an entire camp and preseason available for him to earn a roster spot.

Are you implying that unexcused absences voids the guarantee?

I do not know for a fact Polk's does but most NFL contracts have void language for failure to report and I'd find it hard to believe it's not standard language/boilerplate in every rookie deal.

I saw a thing on MacAfee yesterday that I watched for maybe 1 min., and it had to with this subject, and how some teams are not part of that program. It had to do with Shemar Stewart and him staying out of jail, the Bengals owner being a douche, and Stewart basically saying eff that I'll go back to A&M. Lost interest in the FM radio morning zoo vibe that MacAfee's show is, but the point was that not all the teams adopted such a clause language, which is standard for I think 30 of the 32 teams. I'm sure you can go on youtube and find it, but I was in a mood and passed on that BS.

I'd suspect failure to report is standard language whereas failure to 'behave' is negotiable by %. As in, get arrested/convicted/suspended and the base guarantees are voided along with some percentage of the bonuses. I kinda wonder how much of the Stewart thing is wording, cause Bengals. Mike Brown is tight with a buck and is supposedly always looking for any angle, we'll likely never know

I don't know, bud. Like I said, it came up in my feed, I said oh this might be interesting, and it was all them ranting and talking about how Brown made some real offhand comment that was poorly thought out. But what I remember was they spoke how so many of the teams adopted _______ program which had certain language clauses, and the Bengals didn't. I lost interest and moved on. Then i lost further interest and poured a lemonade and Tennessee Honey, and that took the edge off a bit.
