One's coming off an ACL,. and the other's coming off an 80 catch, 1100 yard, 13 TD season.

Diggs signed here because it was by far the best deal he was going to get.
Diggs is basically in a 1 year prove it contract.

three year deal... if he's back, those $20m base salaries in 26 & 27 are eminently manageable...

Salaries that are purposely high because they are not guaranteed.

Everything is riding on 2025 which is why Diggs competing with McLaurin for looks from Maye spells trouble.

Signing McLaurin to a rumored 30 mil per season contract won't fly with both WRs on the NE roster.

The Pats landing McLaurin does not work because Diggs would go off the rails over his compensation.

They are virtually the same type of player. Diggs has 5.5 million in incentives to earn plus the majority of his money is in 2026 and 2027 salary. 41 million combined. McLaurin would take receptions away from Diggs causing trouble.

**** Stephon Diggs.

So trade Diggs for McLaurin. Washington gets him for this season plus the next two years at a reasonable price, Diggs gets to play on a legitimate contender. Pats get a slight upgrade at WR when they agree on McLaurin’s extension.

would rather have diggs... dont have to give up draft chip to get him... guarantee the money, give him a bump if necessary... easy peasy

McLaurin is coming off 82 catches for 1096 yards and 13 TDs.
Diggs is coming off ACL surgery.

McLaurin is 29. Diggs is 31.

Nothing against Diggs, McLaurin is just a bit better and a bit younger. That last line is what makes it worth investing a little more to get a lot more by signing McLaurin IMO.

McLaurin turns 30 September 15.... Diggs 32 in November... I consider that a wash... its not like one is 26 and the other 30+...

would I ***** and moan if we did trade for him? No. i wouldn't...

but, please, define "a little more" ... Thats my problem with it... I don't want to give up multiple picks... and that is what I am thinking it will take...

I’m neither agreeing or disagreeing, but I’m sure Diggs actually wouldn’t mind this scenario; given it’d be with a contender (Washington), he’d get his money AND get to play in his hometown.

Terry C is disgruntled in DC, maybe this opens up an opportunity to swing a trade.

One of the most consistent WRs in the game and in his prime. Not a elite elite like Chase, Jefferson or Lamb but damn good, definitely a number one that requires other teams to adjust game plans.

Not sure of compensation but maybe two 2nd rounders or a 2nd and 3rd the next year.

I would make this deal, we have the cap and have a dire need for playmakers in the passing game.
I agree that he is super consistent, and you're right just one elite. I would not make the trade because of his age and he, Diggs and Kyle Williams are very similar in play style. I agree that having him would be awesome but this team needs to continue adding core players through the draft and that is where my hesitation lies.

Kinda, yeah.
I'd pick up the phone at the very least. McLaurin is better than Diggs ever was.
Stop.

What makes you say he is better than Diggs ever was? Cuz it honestly sounds like you don't watch football. I will give you they are equally productive, but your grandiose claim is utterly ridiculous.

Living in the DC market I get to watch a lot of McLaurin.

Diggs is good; McLaurin is better.

No it isn't.

Conversely I have watched a ton of Diggs since college and admittedly not as much of Terry, so why do you guys say he is better? Both have great hands, run exceptional routes, Terry is faster and both are clutch, so what makes Terry better?

I know stats don't tell the full story but Diggs has a 69% catch rate and Terry has a 63.4% rate for their careers.

Diggs also played with pre-injury Teddy Bridgewater, Prime Kirk Cousins and Josh Allen, and CJ Stroud.
McLaurin got one whole year with Jayden Daniels

Catch Rate is nearly as bogus of a stat as Tackles. Hopefully this gets realized one of these days.

All fair points but none of those answer the question about why Terry is a better WR

Legit question because I have gone back and watched some tape of each and I cannot say without a doubt that one is better than the other

Obviously they'll all fight it out in camp, though most of yours are locks barring injury. But - assuming the OL does a decent job - can McDaniels do something with this?

I think the answer is "hell yeah"

That being said, the purpose of this season is to see what we have - and as much as I'd love to have a dependable go-to WR, I think McDaniels' strategy this season will be to spread the ball to keep defenses as off balance as possible, both in the air and on the ground.

With any luck the OL plays well enough that we don't have to waste a TE as a blocker and we can further keep the D guessing.

I think part of them keeping $60 mil in cap space this year is to invest in the offense in the future, so I don't go into this season thinking this is the end of the rebuilding - but I think there's a lot of talent on this roster.

I agree. This off-season was the first step. They need a strong season, another really good free agency, and another great draft. Then we should be looking at a serious contender.

No. It is foolish to take on these older WR's who will out in the pasture snacking on daises by the time this team is genuinely competitive.

All of this is a moot point if Diggs is healthy as he appears.

Also, DC actually has the cap space to re-sign him and I expect they'll get it done or have an all out mutiny among their fanbase - that's how popular McLaurin is to them
