Agree or disagree? The Maye bar is ankle high.

Staley wasn't coaching the chargers last year btw. The Captain knows what he is saying. Do you?

WTH are you even talking about when it comes to Herbert and int's? Herbert threw 3 int's all of last season. He had an int % of .6 for 2025, he went over 350 passes without an int at one point last season. I can't fathom why you go to one aberrant game as though it defines his career. Should Brady be judged by his last game here? Did you even watch that Chargers playoff game??? The center of that o-line put on a master class of what not to do, matadors waving red capes would have been more effective. Harbaugh afterwards felt compelled to say they had to roll Herbert out just so he could complete his throwing motion.

If a QB is responsible for how bad his line failed him then how much blame do you attribute to Maye for the Pats o-line failures last year? The reason Herbert isn't taking much heat for those int's in that one game is because the people that usually lead the charge applying said heat generally speaking know at least a little about the game.
I know what my conversation was with the captain as I always do.. do..you??

Maust my guy conversation was just a general topic of QBs and coaches.. thanks for your great insights but was nothing like your alluding too my guy.

What were Brady’s projections after 1 year? Big invisible error bars around these projections.

Not picking lint really; just thinking that Onemenu's got the RG job fairly sewn-up, unless he arrives at TC in the Worst shape of his career... which would be saying something.
Overall it is a fairly strong and mobile run blocking OL, but marginal pass blocking group, IMO. Clearly the OL is our biggest need and will require high picks for another year or two.

What are your overall thoughts?

I wouldn’t feel too good getting compared to both Lawerence and Jones. Very weird comps.

Maye’s game is more comparable to Matt Stafford and Josh Allen.
From a pure natural physical ability perspective, I agree with this.

The Capt was talking directly about Staley. Staley had Herbert all of his seasons as a HC so what other QB would it be about?
To Capt Stone's point, Staley hung Herbert out to dry and called it 'analytics'

The LT situation concerns me, gravely. Not One UFA signed during the offseason with starting LT experience. I mean, WTF Eliot?!?
Meet the New boss; same as the Old boss.

And some of us are gonna be really right, while others of us are gonna be really, really wrong about Stumpy; don't think there's gonna be a middle ground with him... And VD Low, who should be fighting for his Practice Squad life here now, is instead only a Heartbeat Away from becoming our starting LT, again

The LG situation should sort itself out, eventually, where it's Strange69, Siddy the Sow, or perhaps even the rookie Wilson. Don't laugh, but I wish we still had Mike Jordan here as a fall-back option in case the other three succumb to injuries/ineffectiveness.

Bradbury should be an improvement over Ben Brown based solely on experience. Brown is younger & bigger, but was still in way over his head last season. I wouldn't mind him sticking-around on the PS. And David Andrews deserved the chance to compete for a spot here, same as Lt Cardona at LS.

RG is Onemenu's to lose; though I'm looking forward to the day when his contract can be more-easily unloaded if he continues to eat his way from earning it...

And RT belongs to Moses as long as he can take the field, for however long it lasts...

Everyone else that I purposely haven't mentioned ****ing Sucks. Barely PS-worthy.

Otherwise, we're in terrific shape.

@jmt57

When does the training camp thread start? The week of or a few days heading into it?
Sorry for delay, took a mini-vacation from the internet.

Important Dates:
Sat July 19 - rookies report to training camp
Wed July 23 - Tues July 22 - veterans report to training camp
Wed July 23 - first day of training camp
Thur July 24 - first camp practice that is open to the public

Mike or Ross usually start a training camp thread on the days they are open to the public, so we will see that a week from today.

Understand. I was just sharing my point. That i believe it's true that even though coaching can hurt a QB, the QB touches the ball not the coach.

No worries at all. It was just a inquiry. As I know the first few days are pretty much guys reporting, PUP assignments and getting guys ramped up. I appreciate the information looking forward to camp!

Felger and Mazz warming up their Dobbs looks better than Maye takes right now...

What i like about Dobbs is he's a far better back up QB then Brissett could ever aspire to be. Dobbs actually knows he's a back up and is absolutely fine with that. Unlike Brissett.

Actually, veterans report on 7/22 (Tuesday) and first practice is on 7/23 (Wednesday).

With the exception of the McCarthy ceiling choice, I get all of the selections.

With regards to Maye, he needs to prove he can stack some wins and minimize turnovers. Like Lawrence, he passes the eye test, but it needs to translate to winning football.
Nix is a Brees type operator but without the accuracy.
FYI.....Daniels was Washington's leading rusher
It's a projection, not what he did last year. Of course he needs to stack wins but to project his ceiling as Lawrence is ridiculous. Again, projecting, Lawrence should be his floor.

Why not just put BUST down as the floor for Maye?

JJ Mcarty = Joe Burrow?

Bo Nix = Brees?

Jayden Daniels = Lamar Jackson? I can sort of buy, but not as Daniels being Washingtons leading rusher like Jackson.

Maye is going to be top 10 by the end of the season. He’s going to be Drake Maye, not a close or equivalent of someone else. Hopefully he’ll be the 2nd best QB in Pats history.

For some.. it's been a conversation of Coaching, sure for Lawrence he was in a terrible situation his rookie season and saw immediate success under Pedersen even going to the divisional round.
However as BB always said the QB touches the ball more than anyone not the HC. Drake was playing off raw athletic abilities and his football IQ as a rookie last season. He as a rookie was expected to make mistakes with TOs. I feel like sky's the limit for Drake. He probably has the best totality of coaching around him. He's in a much better situation to get on an arch this season to becoming a great QB.

Agreed, so to call his ceiling as TLaw is absolutely asinine. TLaw is his floor, and with a better supporting cast, guys who actually know how to block, and a coaching staff that isn't completely green and off the rails, his ceiling should be more akin to Josh Allen. Time will tell, but based on what I saw last year amidst a complete **** show surrounding him, and what appears to be a very smart, level headed, dedicated head on his shoulders, I see great things in his future.
