Why not just put BUST down as the floor for Maye?

JJ Mcarty = Joe Burrow?

Bo Nix = Brees?

Jayden Daniels = Lamar Jackson? I can sort of buy, but not as Daniels being Washingtons leading rusher like Jackson.

With the exception of the McCarthy ceiling choice, I get all of the selections.

With regards to Maye, he needs to prove he can stack some wins and minimize turnovers. Like Lawrence, he passes the eye test, but it needs to translate to winning football.
Nix is a Brees type operator but without the accuracy.
FYI.....Daniels was Washington's leading rusher

Last year did Maye no favors with AVP running the offense... I think this year is when we get a true read on his abilities...

Great idea for segment. Terrible execution when it comes to Maye. Ceiling maybe Allen, floor Trubisky?

Obviously that’s an optimistic ceiling but whatever he’s on that axis. Lawrence seems like a low bar

The reality with Maye is that Pats fans just wanted to see some exciting QB play last year and he got a mulligan because it was the first year without Bill, we were coming off an awful season, and Mayo was always going to get all the scrutiny.

That will run thin this year and he will need to start proving that his play can translate to wins.

Slow morning on the farm? Chores already done?

Trevor Lawrence is basically a bust though. An 85 career QB rating. Stats aren't everything, but they aren't nothing, particularly over a 4 year sample.

In context this puts his career rating 30th overall compared to last year's QBs that started a decent sample of games (putting QBs with 1 or 2 games that year over him that had a higher ratings wouldn't be fair... So I didn't count those ones).

In context Maye with an absolutely garbage cast on offense (one of the worst in recent memory in the NFL when you look at top skill guys, depth and oline) had a higher rating (88.1) than Lawrence's career rating (85).

I wouldn’t feel too good getting compared to both Lawerence and Jones. Very weird comps.

Maye’s game is more comparable to Matt Stafford and Josh Allen.

How is Penix compared to Herbert when Maye has been compared to his peers to Herbert and Allen.

Lawrence? I’d take Maye over Lawrence 10 times out of 10.
If Maye is Daniel Jones than that’s at least better than Bo Nix floor as Mac Jones.

I don’t see that for Nix.

As far As McCarthy being Burrow?
As it’s been talked about Ad Nauseam, I was firmly flip flopping between Maye and McCarthy.
I felt McCarthy had more zip came from a winning program and was more competitive. Might have something to do with people from the south having the reputation as being mellow and more agreeable.

I don’t think any of the QBs fell in a better situation than McCarthy landing with the Vikings.

If he isn’t putting up big numbers right away with those WRs in that system he is not going to be Elite.

Maye has the chance to be a Top 5 QB if we can protect him the WRs step up and Maye finds a quarter of the madness that is Tom Brady competitive nature.

15TD, 10 INTs, 421 rushing yards, 88 QB rating, 66% completion percentage... with no  HC, no  OL, no OC.... last season.... also no one on the outside except Boutte..

Is pretty impressive for a guy who's GM didn't start him..

Drake as you mentioned is more compared to Allen for sure.. he had a better rookie season than Allen did.. remember in 2018 Allen looked like a bust..

My prediction is Daniels isn't going to sneak up on teams from this season on.. we are going to know for sure by mid season if he's in fact that guy...

Nix, penix and McCarthy project to be serviceable QBs but nothing spectacular.

Williams and our Guy Drake project to have the biggest upside and I believe they will be more efficient and effective for thier teams this season and beyond.

Chicago has been about as good drafting and developing QBs as New England has been with WRs (at least since 2000).

Agreed there. Williams was trying to do it all on his own far to much last season.. the bevy of weapons he had last season is Qbs dream.. he was playing here ball. Also coaching had alot to do with it. Drake had to overcome coaching as well as not having anyone not named Boutte make plays outside for him.

Great points LTD. Now he has some OTs.. he'll have the time to go through his progression and not like last season by the time the balls snapped lowe and Jacobs are already on thier backs.. we have some nice weapons heading into the season that Josh will be able creatively incorporate so Drake can take full advantage. Guys like Henry, Pop, Diggs, Boutte, Williams, Henderson also having a work horse back like rham to run between the tackles and get those tough 3,4 yards will also help Drake immensely
