Trade Candidates

You're exaggerating and making too many excuses for him.

I’m not making any excuses for him. I said he doesn’t decide where he plays and that’s a fact, not an excuse. I’m not saying he should make the team or anything else, simply that he does what he’s told, just like every other player. When you find a team where the coach lets the players choose where they play let me know, I will buy a raffle ticket from them to support them.

Hunter?

I just meant he has told everyone he wants to play both. But if I can trade for him I'm down lol.
Oh for sure LOL.. your guy Marcus Jones wouldn't like that cuz.. he would be taking his slot CB position.. not our 2 alpha Dawgs on the outside.

Can't wait to trade these guys to harvest 2 5th rounders and 23 7th rounders.
For sure the league would never allow such a star studded list of talent get traded, smells of collusion.

Might be true but 2 OTAs and a mini camp are not adequate to reach that conclusion.
Sam: regarding us picking Good WR's all I have to say is Finally. Did I say both are also better than Polk and Baker?? FTR.

Here's his college profile. He's moved around since his college days. He started out as a SS his freshman year, then played outside LB. Yet he's called a nickel back. BB/Mayo played him at both S and LB and now Vrabel is moving him to just LB. This is proof coaches just don't know what to do with him as he's not shown he can stick to one position. As I've mentioned in previous posts. When you ask about where Mapu played, you'll get a different answer depending on who you ask. This is why when reporters ask what he is, he can't tell them.

And since Nov 6th, 2023, the team has tried him out as a strong safety. He has made the roster as the 9th LB and that is opportunity yet again.

To be clear, Vrabel didn't sign Woodson, Epps and Hawkins because he thinks Mapu is one of our roster safeties. I think even Pettus is preferable to Mapu at safety.

Wasn't Hawkins on the team last year?

Much appreciated Rain,

I find it interesting Vrabel is listing him as a LB, the frustrating thing with mapu is he has the size, speed and range to be a good interchangeable player. Availability has been his detriment.

I'd like him to show he can stay healthy and remain that way. He could be a nice chess piece for the defense. Williams could use him everywhere. He's a nice mystery to have to make opposing OCs have to wonder. I remember BB saying before if you have to make an opposing team wonder where a player is going to line up you've already won the match up.

Since the day he was drafted, he couldn't tell you whether he was a LB or S. That's a red flag. An OL may go from T to G or G to T, but they know they are an OL. Same for DB. McCourty and Malcolm Jenkins are rare examples where they were drafted high at CB, but played poorly and had to try another position at S where they excelled. They at least knew they were a DB. Edelman knew he was never going to play QB, so he put in the work to play WR. Other players have done the same. They created an identity.

Mapu on the other hand, has no identity. He's already tried both S and LB and has done very poorly. Can he rush the passer? If so, he needs to speak up and give the coaches something else to try him out at. I don't know about you, but if my job is on the line, I'm going to think about where I could excel, have a conversation with my HC and really work on that - not wait until where coach puts me. So yes, I'm going to keep saying this until he decides where he wants to play or he's cut.
Devin was all rookie team. He played very well as a zone corner. the next year he had trouble when they wanted to play more man on.

Devin played man as a rookie. He was lauded for his closing speed and ball skills as a rookie coming in. He got accoladed by TO his first game as a rookie against Cincinnati.

We had a better pass rush in 2010 than the next season in 2011 wich impact led coverage..Where he struggled as he wasn't trusting his eyes and playing free like he did as a rookie. He turned out to be one the patiots best FSs
