OT biggest draft busts for each team

At least Easley got on the field with the Pats for a couple of years.

1968 the Patriots drafted another DE, Dennis Byrd - but in this case sixth overall (Easley was #29).

Byrd also had a serious knee injury his senior year, which was common knowledge to anyone paying the least bit of attention to college football. Apparently the Pats were drafting based on nothing more than a Street and Smith's annual draft preview magazine though - and with surgery being what it was back then, a single torn ACL was commonly a career ending accident for an athlete. Sure enough - thanks to the Pats lack of due diligence - Byrd lasted just one season before having to retire.

Dishonorable mention to OT Karl Singer, third overall in the 1966 AFL Draft.

The NFL thought so little of him that he wasn't selected until the 19th round. Singer started one - ONE! - game before being released after three forgettable bench-warmong seasons. This despite being on the roster of some very bad teams. At least Byrd had an injury to blame - with Singer it was strictly a case of him never being any good.
Karl Singer, the ultimate WHO? draft pick. 3rd overall in 1966. WTF? I don't even think Street and Smith's had him listed.
At least Byrd was a known player. I was going to mention Byrd, who the Pats called to tell him they drafted him and they found out he was in the hospital recovering from knee surgery. Good scouting there.
If I remember right in the '60's the Pats drafted a player who had been killed in a car accident earlier in the year. The draft was much longer then and info wasn't like it is today but that is pretty incompetent.

I remember when Borges gloated that Belichick was outmaneuvered by the Jets for Dwayne “Baby Sapp” Robertson a guy with a degenerative knee condition when he was drafted that forced him out of the league. Lol
Borges also bemoaned the pick of Richard Seymour over David Terrell, Koren Robinson, and Kenyatta Walker.

More amusingly, though, remember that the mediots thought the JEST had "stolen" Vernon Gholston from NE, only for him to be outplayed by UDFA LB Gary Guyton.

to be fair, Jackson was a 2nd rounder

To be fair (and as noted in the post) Jackson was the 36th pick, Harry the 32. Only 4 slots lower and not even a third of the (ahem) production

IIRC that's an 'urban myth' built off of something that happened with a CFL team. But it is a 'tribute' to the Sullivans that we're inclined to believe they did it

I knew I heard it somewhere and remembering the Sullivans, it was possible.

That would be some Brown’s or Jete level incompetence right there…

If it were true….it does sound about right for the time though….

In all honesty, when we hear something of legendary incompetence or malfeasance happened in pro football we pretty much expect the Sullivans were involved.

Toss in some larcenous intent and that sums up the Sullivans. Incompetence, thievery and ill intent was their house brand

Let's talk about our best draft pick. I really like that guy that went 199 in 2000 and went on to win 11 conference championships and 7 Superbowls championships. Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. AKA GOAT.

I just re-watched a game from 2016 with Cyrus Jones. OK, he was only pick 60 in the draft, but if ever a player failed to make the transition from college to the NFL, it was him. Couldn't even get out of the way of a punt he wasn't going to catch.

Remember D Rob?

The bowling ball with knives.

The Sullivans' main incompetence (thankfully for us fans) was managing to lose money on the Jacksons Victory Tour.
I’m still floored by this. This is Michael freaking Jackson in the height of the 1980s, when he was bigger than Elvis ever was and before his, ahem, peccadillos were known. The Sullivans manage to go bankrupt off of him. Billy Sullivan was a con man of the highest order, and he finally got his comeuppance in the most spectacular manner.

Harry was such a bust that he deserves having his name spelled K’Neal. The judges will also accept Ken Sims
That was the first thing I noticed too. Kinda adding insult to injury there.

@Triumph always called him K'Neal. He can explain why.

I’d also like to mention the baguette…I mean Jake Bequette and Aaron Dobson. Think they both did nothing while here…not anywhere else…there was another wr that was bad at the same time as Dobson and forget his name…

Josh Boyce, I will assume.

4th round pick from the same draft as Drop-son.
Nine catches his rookie season, never caught another pass in the NFL.

I never understood why Bequette kept getting so many chances. I'm assuming he had some incriminating photos of Robert Kraft.
Zero tackles, zero sacks in his career if I recall correctly. Another guy that not one single NFL team wanted to give even a tryout after the Pats finally released him.

No wasn’t Boyce. Kenbrell Something? Tompkins? I remember them BOTH being on the team and them BOTH being as useless as each other. Had high hopes for Dobson but he was useless. I think recently he *****ed about being here on Social Media too lol. @jmt57

KT played his way onto the team as an undrafted free agent. So he was no draft bust. Nor was he useless; on the contrary, he was part of one of Brady's best game-winning drives.

I was surprised that he was cut (but I think that he may have had some personal issues).
