100% correct. An offense cannot function without an OT. You can try all the band aids you want.. but solidifying that spot for your franchise QB is the biggest need. Lowe is fine as a practice squad/back up. But we know he's not an NFL starter. Josh I'm sure has to be on board of course.

Yet, He was just as good as Cam Robinson or Dan Moore. Players that numerous people on this board wanted.

Lowe is more than a "practice squad" player. He is a bottom 1/3rd starter, but can be improved upon.

It is a size obsession; the casual fan seems to want a "big" WR. I don't care about size; for me the One Skill that is the most important is can he get open. The Patriots seem to have forgotten little detail. I think they over-analyzed the WR prospects and got lost in the weeds.

If belichick were running the draft he would trade down to the middle of the first and draft a LT (Simmons) and gain an additional 2. He surely wouldn’t be drafting someone to replace Peppers.

And, yes, I could see him trading down, and I would agree with this approach, but I just don't see how it could happen this year. If Hunter and Carter are gone, no one is gonna want to trade up with them and we can all go to bed at 9pm. If by some miracle Carter falls to 4 (because of the meddling owners of the Giants), then things get exciting and a trade down is possible.

As far as Peppers, I don't know the particulars, but Bob Kraft may be pushing to dump him. And maybe not. He has done this at least twice before. I do know that Peppers is an outstanding player. There was even a rumor, unsubstantiated, that Kraft was trying to get rid of Vrabel in the 2009 when he was traded to the Chiefs because of his union activities and his push to share revenues from Patriot Place.

As far as knocking the GOAT coach, I would never do that. However his record are far as the draft is pretty spotty; he is no GOAT GM.

I agree with your second point.

On your first point, Cam Robinson was much better in previous years and even last year up until being traded. Did he go over the cliff and won't return to previous performance? Who knows. It's certainly possible. How much Lowe can be improved upon is also something no one knows.

There are teams that would love to be picking at 4 and have their own favorite. It could be Jeanty, or Campbell or the overrated TE. Maybe someone loves Membou or Walker.
It’s not a matter of the guy being a consensus can’t miss, it’s a matter of one team trading up to get the guy they want before someone else takes him.

I think the man who ran the greatest dynasty ever, involved in every single decision is clearly the GOAT GM, even if people feel the neeecto trash drafts that resulted in 6 Championships. The point is to win, not to make decisions fans like. The draft is an exercise in risk. It’s also an exercise in building the best team not collecting the best players. The only way to judge it is with objective results rather than subjective opinions. And the result is did you win not did a pick pan out.

I didn't even realize it until this morning. Based on what I have from @DaBruinz tracking the transactions and checking it against the team's roster, they definitely need to add some quality depth and push some of these names off the roster:

G (4) - Strange, L.Robinson, Sow, T.Robinson
OL (3) - J.Andrews, Onwenu, W.Schweitzer
C (2) - Brown, Bradbury

Personally, If Layden Robinson, Jacobs and Wheatley were cut on Monday, it wouldn't be a loss. It might even be addition by subtraction.

Hunter and Carter are both gone before the Pats pick. No team will offer us a trade that puts us in a good position to get a solid LT in the middle of the first round, it just ain't one of those draft years. The Pats pick Will Campbell at 4, like it or not the writing is and has been on the wall for awhile now as to how this will play out. The interest will be who they take or moves they make Friday in rounds 2-3.

Cam Robinson was ok until week 12 last year, then he fell off a cliff. What we don't know is why. We don't know if he was injured or if it was the rumored "attitude" issue or if he just hit that "wall" that players hit.

What we know is that, despite having Doug Marrone here, the team didn't have any meaningful discussions with him on bringing him here. That's telling in regards to Robinson.

I had Jackson and Stanley as my guys to sign and Robinson/Moore as the guys to possibly avoid.

Any LT signing would have given the team flexibility with the 4th pick. Not just Robinson.

I think they will try to trade down, either to the Saints at 9 because they want Sanders and he is still on the board at 4 or to the Bears at 10 because they see both of the top tackles gone by that point. The Pats then take whoever is left of Campbell, Membou, Jeanty, or Warren. Assuming neither team is willing to pony up the 2nd required to trade up, and this will not surprise me, they take Campbell though i prefer Membou.

I would take Mason Graham.

But I have a sneaky feeling Tetairoa McMillan is still in play. That quote from Vrabel about wanting someone who can haul in off target passes just sticks with me.

My assessment of each:
Wallace—have to expect he can grow into a starting role, which could be at T or G. Can’t rely on it being this year. Should be OT3/OT4
Moses. Starting RT. Backup matters due to age and injury risk.
Lowe. I suppose he could be on the roster at OT4, but his best place is being cut
Jacobs. Not sure it’s worth bothering to bring him to camp. Not NFL caliber

Strange. Starter at LG playing to earn a contract beyond 2025
Robinson. Should be able to make the team, but ideally is 2 injuries away from starting.
Sow. Not NFL caliber
T Robinson Not NFL caliber.

Andrews. Made of glass. Should go in to camp on the outside looking in with a shot to earn the last OL spot.
Onwenu. Starting RG, needs a good season to be back in 26
Schweitzer. Hopefully cut because someone played well enough to beat out an over the hill career backup. But I don’t know if we gave anyone yet who can.

Brown. Should be a practice squad guy
Bradbury. Starting C

So for this year we need
LT1
G3
and should how to be better at OT3 and C2 than we now have

And next year we may need new LG1, RG1, and RT1

Any OL we draft in any round should have a good shot at making the team and any drafted in the first 4 rounds should have a good shot at being the primary backup at his position other than the LT who starts day 1
