But the point is, Campbell and Membou have both worked with him. If he's hyping up one, he's hyping up the other. And, he's done just that. But hes put Campbell at OT1. I understand your point but it's a point that goes for both of the top guys. I'm just pointing out, those seem to be the top 2 at 4, he's worked with both, and he leans Campbell.Sure but not as much as someone I'm paying. It's not like his opinion doesn't matter but he's not going to tell you exactly what's he's thinking either. His job is to train and hype his guys up. I don't think there's anything wrong with that but it is what it is.
Thorn certainly doesn’t say Campbell can’t play LT, in fact the first paragraph notes his strength there. Perhaps his best position ultimately is at LG and I’d be fine moving him there with an upgrade at LT which means we’d be upgrading at two positions. Win-win.Fwiw Thorn thinks he should move inside.
Mayweather is getting paid by Campbell. So as much as Duke forgot more than I know. I don't entirely trust his opinion here. At best it's clouded a bit.
1. He won’t be a LG in 2025. Maybe he will in the future but that probably means we’ve upgraded at LT. That’s fine by me.I agree.
I want a RT at #4 more than I want a LG at #4.
I agree, but I think Graham is a stud. Inside pass rush is invaluable.
Because you value need over BPA. If you pick BPA, there is no affect on the rest of the draft.
Somewhat true. History is always of value.
I mean you could highlight his second point to cancel that out. Especially considering the type of athlete he'll be facing every down in the NFL.Thorn certainly doesn’t say Campbell can’t play LT, in fact the first paragraph notes his strength there. Duke is a very smart guy but again ignoring he's being paid is simply foolish. It doesn't mean no one else thinks Campbell will be good but it's worth taking into account for sure. At least it is imo. I would rather know than not now.As for Manyweather, if he was the only one who had graded Campbell high, that would be a fair point but he’s Brugler and Jeremiah’s top OT too. Jeremiah says he can start at LT for a decade.
I think this is where we just disagree. I have several players higher than Campbell. I'm finishing up my plugging my grades in and working on the ptp board. Easter. I'll give both out early next week and what I'd do at 4/38. Trade back or if we can't. Teams will have it a lot different this year for obvious reasons but there will be takers at 4 imo. Maybe not AS many but we don't know that either. Explore every option and you should be able to make it happen.Once again, it comes down to alternatives. There aren’t any perfect picks for 4 overall outside of Hunter and Carter, so why not go with the highest graded prospect at the position of greatest value?
If you’d rather a tweener or a rotational player over a starting LT than fine. I’d argue that you’re not maximising this draft to benefit the roster. Why would we not want an above average LT rather than the very below average one we currently have?We will regret picking Campbell. He may turn out to be an above average OT, maybe an elite G. I’d much rather take Walker or even Graham.
Build toward a top 5 defense instead of putting a bandage on the OL.
1. I’m not ignoring that he will be a better LG than LT, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play LT. You seem to be ignoring Jeremiah saying he’ll be an above average LT for a decade however, something Thorn’s first paragraph supports.I mean you could highlight his second point to cancel that out. Especially considering the type of athlete he'll be facing every down in the NFL.
That said you can't ignore "he's a prime candidate to move inside" and say Thorn thinks he can play tackle at the highest level. Thats not what you want at 4 and certainly don't want a guard. You don't need to spend the 4th overall pick to get a NFL quality guard. There's a reason you generally don't draft Saf, TE, C/G, RB etc in the top 10. We don't need to explain it.

I think Simmons and Conerly will just as good if not better than Campbell. Ersery not so much. I have a few guys in front of him.How much better of a LT will Campbel be than Connerly or Ersey? What does that projection look like?
Simmons without the injuryI think Simmons and Conerly will just as good if not better than Campbell. Ersery not so much. I have a few guys in front of him.
No-one ever said the Pats should draft the person at the top of the board religiously. I am not sure why you say that, but you appear upset so let's forget about it.1. He won’t be a LG in 2025. Maybe he will in the future but that probably means we’ve upgraded at LT. That’s fine by me.
2. We have Barmore, White and Williams all capable of providing inside pass rush and the deepest DT draft in years. That doesn’t have to be solved at 4 with a rotational piece.
3. We keep having this debate. BPA is based upon the person building the board, not on mock drafts or pundit’s big boards. Your BPA might be different to mine which er saimight be different to Vrabel’s.
4. I value roster value rather than need and I take BPA into account too but I view BPA in terms of tiers rather than individuals. It’s a little ridiculous to say we should always draft the person at the top of your board religiously. You should draft the person that best helps your roster providing they are of a similar grade to the person at the top of the board.
I’m not upset but I do think it’s time to move on with the Will Campbell debate. I think everything that can be said has been. Four days and we’ll know.No-one ever said the Pats should draft the person at the top of the board religiously. I am not sure why you say that, but you appear upset so let's forget about it.
