Should we trade for LT Kolton Miller?

I think that one of our 3rd Round Picks, and no more than a 5th next year thrown in would get it done. LV is tight with the Cap (I believe it's about 26M before they sign any draft picks). Although someone on here may know their Cap number better than me.
Dugger or Stevenson for Miller?

Not happening. Raiders would be complete morons to let a top 15 LT go. There just are too that many of them.

Curious where you are getting he plays super-upright. I have read 4 articles on him and they all said he plays with good bend for his height.
Good "bend" is not the same as what OGs do. Guards start in a 3 or 4-point stance and have to instantly counter DTs who are also in a 4-point stance and they hopefully get lower than the DTs. OTs start in a 3 or often 2-point stance and engage with a DT that's similarly in a 3 or 2-point stance, often racing them sideways around the edge and bending if the DE goes low (about waist high). Just watch any videoclip on Youtube featuring Campbell. It's obvious he's higher than the OGs and has a starting stance higher than most OTs.

"Bend" in this case, refers to his ability to bend around toward a pass-rusher trying to blow past him on the outside. Which is, in fact, good in Campbell's case.

He played almost exclusively in a two-point stance (and a high one, compared to most tackles), and even when he was in a 3-point stance, never gets all the way down.

Guards play almost exclusively in a 3-point stance, and have to get under defensive tackles at the line.

I don't think Campbell is a bad player, and maybe he'd be a pretty good *right* tackle in the NFL. But saying 'just kick him in to guard', the default answer to when tackles have short arms, I don't think would translate in this case, because of how he plays. And I think his arms and wingspan are too small to play left tackle at a reasonably high level in the NFL. He has good feet, good power, and good bend, like those four articles said, which, playing on the TE side at RT, might make him be able to be a good pro.

I don't know if you want to necessarily draft what projects to be a right tackle only at 4.

You know, all of a sudden there is a LOT of negative press coming out about Carter. Things like him having a bad attitude, and him having foot injury issues. Take those items and add questions about, is he big enough to be anything more than a situational rusher; I think the possibility of Carter falling are becoming better than they were last week.

Of course, it could all be the usual smoke screens that teams send out to add confusion to the process. Who knows, maybe the Pats are part of the conspiracy to defame Carter so he'll fall to us. Smart move IF it's true.
Carter pulled a tow-truck driver out of his truck and tossed him around. He was arrested for assault. This isn't a pre-draft smokescreen designed to get Carter to fall to a waiting team. It's documented. After the Aaron Hernandez saga I wouldn't touch Carter with a 7th round comp pick.

Well, they were probably going to trade or release Dugger at some point in the next year or two anyway. So, I'm good with saying Cheery Bye to Dugger. I wouldn't mind doing the same for Stevenson, but not until we get an as good if not better Week 1 Starter at RB in this Draft (and we still need another 3rd Down RB as well (even with Gibson on the roster). But overall, we could do without both.

JFC, were talking about Bend now.
What a fkn joke.
Bah

According to OTC they have 34.4M for 2025 and in 2026 they have 106.9M effective cap space

Someone whisper in his ear, we’ll give him 50 mill guaranteed. 4 years 100 million, with NLTBE incentives that would make him the highest paid left tackle if he makes 1st or 2nd team all pro.

When it comes to LT or WR’s I’d be willing to pay top 3 position money, for a 3-10 top rated guy. As long as it’s not long term. Get them in the building and go from there.

Why would they draft Carter when they have Burns and Thibadeuax not that they are amazing but don't the Giants have way bigger needs?
they are waffling on taking the 5th year option on Thibodeaux... they might not be sold on him being the answer at DE...

Thanks for the 411 and a detailed response.....much appreciated.

We should trade for K. Miller *only* if the sun rose in the East this morning -1 second - Yup, make the trade!!

Personal life

Miller has a younger brother named Chad. He named Tedy Bruschi as his favorite athlete. Outside of football, Miller enjoys fishing and watching movies.

Football, fishing, watching movies -- a veritable renaissance man!

I'd totally do a 3 year deal, with perhaps a voidable 4th year option (because they'll hopefully have a young 10 year+ LT drafted by then). He'd absolutely improve the LT position in specific and the OL in general. They could draft a future RT (Ersery or Trapilo in this draft) because Moses might give us two years and he's older than Miller. And we could use the #4 for a player like Jalon Walker or Tyler Warren, Etc. It would give us more choices in this draft (especially in the 1st Round), even if we trade back.
John that makes great sense! I'm warming up to the idea of miller.. as your correct taking a edge rusher or a skill player is badly needed. With Henry and Hooper 31. I like Warren at TE.. also Membou factors in here as well. Isn't he a RT?

I don’t think the Raiders want to let him go and I don’t think Wolf would trade the draft picks required to get him.

Membou is a RT (played all 3 years in college at RT). That's why I wouldn't draft him at #4 or anywhere in the Top 20. Also, OT's like Ersery, Trapilo, and a few others have LT/RT ability, but are best projected as RT's. The highest rated of those could be had at the back part of the 1st Round if we trade back into it. Trapilo might be there in the 3rd Round. With Miller, we could take whoever else we want that's not an OT in the 1st, a WR, Edge, DL, TE, or RB in the 2nd (although with 2 3rd Round Picks, I'd take the best RB we could in the 3rd or 4th Rounds).
