2025 Draft Rumours (ie The Pinch Of Salt Thread)

At the end of the day, we need to come to terms with the fact that unless Hunter or Carter fall, every prospect has warts and wouldn’t be selected top 5 or even top 10 in a normal year. And because of that it’s unlikely we’ll find a trade partner. Regardless, we need to hit on the player we do take. If Campbell can be Matt Light for us over the next 10 years, I’ll take it. So here’s hoping they get their evaluations right.
I agree but Matt Light was the middle of R2? Surely never #4 overall.

It could still be a reality?

The Giants punted on Nix, Penix, and McCarthy last year to pick Nabers. Nabers is a talent but passing on a low cost franchise QB two years in a row is a strategy of idiots.

I have been saying this for weeks. No change here. The Giants will pick Sanders. Bakes says, "Can it be a reality?" It always has been a reality. The Giants will not pick Nabers and Hunter, OR Nabers and Carter, and ignore the QB position two years in a row.

Just listened to Todd McShay's podcast. I believe it was recorded today, before the news about the Giants working out Sanders came out.

He said other teams told him not to close the book completely on the idea that the Giants might take Shedeur at #3. He actually suggested that part of the reason Abdul Carter visited Foxboro today was because the Giants were seriously considering Sanders... "you don't get on that plane to Foxboro unless you think you might have to."

He said he's been told the Patriots will take Carter if he's available at #4, and they'll take Will Campbell if Carter is off the board.

They actually had a long discussion about OTs. He said the perception outside the league seems to be that Campbell and Membou are the top two tackles, and then there's a gap before you get to Banks, Simmons, and Connerly. McShay says that when he talks to people in the league, they're telling him that Campbell is the best OT in the draft, and that Membou is the best of that 2nd tier of tackles. He was high on the talent of Josh Simmons and Aireontae Ersery, but said this class of tackles is frustrating evaluators because other than Campbell and Banks, they all have character red flags that are somewhere between relatively minor and fairly significant.

That would be hilarious if we went Campbell at 4 and the Simmons was still available at 38 and we took him. That would be an all star cast on the left side of the line. Assuming Campbell at LG and Simmons at LT.
That’s how the board predicted it on our mock draft game!

Just one thought on this new Shedeur story. Maybe they’ve got some new info on Abdul Carter, either regarding injury or character that are causing them to reconsider.

Wouldn't the signings of aged but serviceable vet QBs make it less likely that Cle or NY have the top pick in the draft, thus taking a QB more likely? I know how much is left in the tank for all QBs is debatable but, to me, it keeps hope alive.

Whereas the news from NO makes it much more likely they’re the top pick overall and they’d be better off waiting and not trading up?

I think it's just as likely that the Mara's asked if they were seriously going into the season with Russ and Jameis.

I think it is more likely. Having the 6th and 3rd picks in the draft in consecutive years and not picking a QB is NUTS to me. The fan base should go crazy.

It's the whole "we'll get one next year" thing and then there's a draft class like this one. I'd like to know how conversations go in these scouting meetings. You have to figure they have a plan for 2026 already. Guys they are watching. (Not so much the NYGs as teams in gen'l.) Maybe they figured a guy like Ewers or Howard was their guy a year ago and then they get to this year, look how things developed and realize they could have had a good QB last year. Not that Nabors isn't really good, he is.

To your point, they can't ignore it two years in a row. Russ can't stick for a reason, and Jameis is trash.

Walter Football is useful if you are looking at prospects down the road. E. G … the draft is over and you want to see what positions will be strong next year. But when they are coming down the home stretch to the draft they are way off on their mocks.

There was actually a report last year grading the various mock drafters over the last few years and Walter Football was comfortably the most accurate

The website is like a throwback to the early 2000's but the guy seems pretty tuned in

They tried to trade for Maye. Now Daboll has 1 year to keep his job and he has to watch Schoen pick Sanders at #3? The guy isn't going to sleep until he's sure he's fired in late September. No wonder there were rumors they wanted to try and trade for the 1st pick. If they do pick Sanders at #3, his Dad will have Daboll's # on speed dial if he ain't starting. Daboll could get to 350 lbs by the 1st Game.

Who do you think they are targeting
11 may be too low to drop
If I had to guess Jeanty. there are obviously a couple options in the trenches but if they are in love with 1 then they may be aggressive. I wouldn't rule out Shadeur with the Purdy contract coming due.
