What's in a number? Stefon Diggs has chosen to wear the #8 Jersey for the Patriots.

Surprising he didn't ask Polk to switch numbers.

Who else has worn #8 for the patriots?

JaWhaun Bentley, Brian Hoyer, Josh Miller, Brooks Bernard, Charlie Baumann, Bryan Wagner, Eddie Hare, Bill Bell.

Not exactly stiff competition.

How do you guys feel about WRs wearing single digit numbers? I feel like #81 would have looked better on Diggs, it incorporates his previous #1 with an appropriate WR number in the 80's.

Right now Austin Hooper currently wears 81 so it still would have required negotiation to obtain.

Remind me again what time of year it is.?

Voluntary workouts, pre-draft …..

We’ve seen enough guys change numbers as late as at last cut-down; he hasn’t even met the other players yet to have those conversations about nr swaps.

Not exactly my biggest concern w this team

WRs rarely wear numbers in the 80s anymore. Diggs never has.

I'd prefer the NFL go back to the previous format. But I'm most concerned with how he does on the field. If we can land at least one impact player at WR via the draft it would be a major boost for Maye.

He scored more than eight 3 times in his career; another year older and coming off the injury, I'd hammer the under.

Logic, eh?

I see your logic, and am all in with TEN TDs for Diggs.

Don't like the new numbering format but happy he is on the Pats.

We need the drama, though...

Agree the new number format is bad. Single digit for receivers is ok though. Never should have been on a linebacker.
It still irks me seeing RB’s and TE’s in single digits, just looks out of place to me. I miss the conventional format. Now WR’s wearing 80’s are more scarce. One of the biggest offenders is the Saints have a WR who wears #22. I keep thinking it’s a RB or CB playing out of position.

Back in the day, veterans who saw players wearing wacky numbers in single digit, teens or a player other than LB wearing numbers in the 50's were market as getting cut.

The weird number format makes it look like it's positionless players on the field.

yea I miss when #'s had more meaning.. I guess I understand why they made the change but I just don't think it was really necessary

Bourne is going to be the only WR on the team with a number in the 80's. I hate this trend so much.
(Maybe our rookie draft pick will take one from Jiles or Jackson, or 80 is available)
