TBH - even though I personally would rather take a guy like Tyler Warren at 4 if Hunter isn't there - part of me kinda hopes they do take Campbell just to see the reaction. And then watch the guy go on to be a perfectly good left tackle for the franchise for 10+ years.
All of me hopes that they take Campbell and for him to be a perfectly good left tackle for the franchise for 10+ years.

Yes, I would like a 3rd or 4th for a small trade down.

That being said, I could certainly see a trade down further with idea of drafting Banks or Simmons or Connerly.

If we don't want Campbell, I see no one at 4 that I would think that stands out way above say the top 7 players available. Vrabel might very well have a chart with 7 players after 3 rated close to the same. Many posters seem to think in a similar way. They don't think anyone is enough better at 4 than their pick that they would give a 4th to move up (some do think Graham is above the rest). For example, if the patriots are clearly calling around, JAX might be willing to give us a 4th or 5th to move up one spot for Graham.

The reaction would be interesting to see. I do think that even the crows that is against drafting Campbell actually WANTS to be in favor of it. I think if we all got to cook up our dream scenario for the draft just with imaginary prospects it would be that a franchise LT was on the board for us at #4. I think pretty much everyone would say it's our biggest need and most would agree that a high draft pick is the only realistic way to address it. And Campbell isn't a particularly divisive prospect in a lot of the traditional ways. No one questions his football character or demeanor. No one questions his production and level of play in college. Even the crowd against drafting him i think acknowledges a lot of positives. It's just that you look at the measurements and how much of an outlier they are and people here have broken down how that shows itself on tape and people just get wary of projecting him as a LT at the next level.

But if we were to take him, I suspect a lot of the crowd against him will resort to optimism vs. staying mad. This wouldn't be like reaching for a player out of nowhere, taking some testing wonder who hasn't shown he can play, a character or toughness question mark, or drafting a non important position. I think there'd be a lot of "hey, I'm concerned he can stick at LT with his length but maybe he's a guy it can work out for and if it does he's the right pick so hopefully it does."

Now, if they passed on Hunter or Carter, I think there'd be an uproar. But I don't get the sense that there'd be too much pushback if we take him otherwise.

Some players might be a little more devisive than others but this is kind of how I feel about most of them. After Carter or Hunter they all have some sort of flaw that's making it hard for me to decide which one I want the most but I think once Vrabel makes his choice it will be easier to ignore that flaw and get behind the player.

???

I see that you are relatively new here.

There WILL BE considerable pushback no matter who we pick. This is as it has always been. Even if we draft Hunter, there will criticism over Vrabel not taking one of the great deals that were offered to move down (whether or not there actually are any such offers).

I gotta be honest, I know that Abdul Carter is new to the edge position, but he lacks play strength and if he can't beat the LT with speed he is done because he doesn't have any counter moves to speak of. He has a spin that reminds me of Crable from back in the day.

He might be able to add the strength and develop counter moves and get better with his hands, but that seems like alot of hoping.
He has great bend around the edge, but thats it. Super high ceiling but very low floor. Once LTs realize thats all he has it will be easier to make him a non factor.

It seems like all the prognosticators have us taking either Campbell (lacks length) or Membou (played RT exclusively), trading down to take Simmons (injury concern), hoping one of the second tier guys like Connerly falls (he won't), or taking a chance by over-drafting a Trapillo or Ersey. Someone is missing from the list.

Why is Kelvin Banks not on anyone's radar? He has the length, started for three years in a big school in a power conference. He is graded as a high level run blocker, which suits the McDaniels system. What is the problem with this guy.

I won't profess to know very much about college football, I'd love some more intel on the guy.
Basically, he had a rough senior season, there was a good chance he played through some injuries. He would have gone in the top 10 easily in 2024.

I certainly would not cry if Banks ended up being the tackle the Patriots got. If he's somehow sitting there at 38, it's an absolute no-brainer.

I don't think we can sit at 38 and expect them to fall. Teams in the bottom of the first need one too. Texans and Chiefs come to mind.

I also think Banks didn’t okay as well as expected last year and it dulled his shine a little.
Two words , Jalon Walker.

Not sure if anyone watched the Georgia game in October but it was a doozy. Between Mykel Williams and Jaylon Walker they made Banks look pretty bad.

Good on him for rebounding and coming back strong to get back to the top tier after that game.

Bad on him for being a game time decision and not suiting up 30 mins before your championship game over some fluke injury. Sad thing is, it was vs the same team that destroyed him. If he could of went out there and held his own vs Georgia, win or lose, it would of pretty much erased October 19th. Instead he took the cowards way out and will be branded that until he can prove otherwise imo.

Should be a really good LG at the very least. LT? Question marks, like most of these guys.

In fairness, both of them could legitimately go in the top 10.

You must have really enjoyed the Cole Strange pick then. That caused plenty of pain to the fandom. He still won't be worth a 1st rounder even if he converts into a competent center for us.

Obviously I hope we have a fantastic draft. But Wolf hasn't proved he has had any great drafting ability yet.
Especially when we consider the past 3 years, there's a lot of room for anxiety.
Hopefully Vrabel makes the correct calls in his first draft with us.
