Do people REALLY think Membou, a RT, IS Better than Campbell at LT?

4) People who, even though LT is pretty universally regarded as our biggest need for the here and now, just see better players on the board at other positions that they think will help the franchise more in the long run
This is where I’m at. Though I’m open to Campbell if it’s after a trade-down and only if Hunter and Carter are taken top 3.

The consensus is worst case scenario Campbell will be an elite guard.
Worse case scenario Membou is an elite right tackle. We need tackles not guards. I guess Membou is preferred over Campbell.

I know he projects as a pot'l LT but hes never played it. Scary to pick him at #4.

Why is it scary? Worse case he is an exceptional RT which is better than an exceptional LG.

We already have a RT for the next 2 years. If he is a bust at LT then he is useless. Time to Value sucks.

1st rd picks are starters Day 1 or by the end of the year (in theory)

With Tyron Smith still available, Im super onboard on drafting someone who is not a day 1 starter

we still have the most (or 2nd) most cap space, btw

Yep. If they went BPA at 4 they could come back with an OT in a trade up and have Smith start the season as a band aid until the OT is ready. If they came out it with either Hunter or Carter at 4, and still got a 1st round tackle it would be a great draft.

I’ve seen almost every Simmons game, and those “reports” are wrong. He would be a #4 guy if he was 100% healthy.
Trading down is by far smartest move.
In a perfect world we use what we get in trade to go back up into round 1 and draft a wr (Egbuka?)
Wasn’t Simmons the highest rated tackle at the time prior to his injury? Speaking of has anyone read or heard how he’s doing?

Oh absolutely. I'd love him on the team. I just don't see them betting he can be the first player ever to become a good LT with his shortcomings. If they get him at 4 I would still want them to move up from 38 into the 1st for a potential LT.

Having a left side of Simmons/Conerly plus Campbell would be sick. Not how I'd do it but (ignoring the meltdowns across the board about value) the end result is appealing.
Hi Pal
I believe that was when he had the false measurements of 32 5/8 arm length
He is now at 33 inches ( can’t believe we are talking about less than a 1/2 inch)
His wingspan of 77 1/2 inches is short
Does the new arm length still put him in that category of first player with those shortcomings
Penni Sewell had 33 1/4 arms and 80 1/2 inches wingspan
Not that far off from Campbell
Penni is a 3 time Pro Bowler

Nine college tackles were drafted in the first round last year. One played exclusively at his primary college position during his rookie season.

Joe Alt?

1) Sewell went 7th overall
2) Sewell's arms and wingspan meet the minimum requirements for NFL Left Tackles
3) There is tape on the last page, of Campbell getting worked by a borderline Day 2 pick just last year - there's plenty more out there of him struggling against long pass rushers.

I think Membou’s ceiling is higher, but Campbell is more of a sure thing. And I agree with Vrabel that Campbell is a tackle.
I agree that Membou has a higher ceiling.
He also has a better chance of not being able to play LT because of the switch
Not everyone can do it
Right now we need a LT to round out our line
If we had a stopgap LT that was good but possibly older like Moses I’d say let’s roll the dice on Membou
Too big a risk for me protecting Maye’s blindside
I’m good with Campbell. His maturity and leadership is impeccable.
With his work ethic and good coaching I think he will be solid

Alt LT to RT
Latham RT to LT
Fashanu LT to LT, RG, and RT
Fuaga RT to LT
Fautanu LT to RT
Morgan LT to LG and RG
Barton LT to C
Guyton RT to LT

Mims stayed at RT

Wow. Quite a list. Nicely done.

Where are the minimum standards listed?

I like Membou better because he has a higher ceiling, but I’ll be happy with either one.

BGC showed a video of Campbell versus Kennard from 2024. Kennard is projected as a 3rd round pick in 2025, so if Campbell is a 1st round pick he should dominate Kennard. TL DR - Campbell's performance against a futre NFL 3rd rounder was not great. Kennard bull rushed Campbell and made inside moves as Campbell set up too deep. If anyone looks at the clip and is honest, Campbell does not look like a Top 10 draft pick.

I counted 11 drop backs on the video and Campbell was beat 4 times. I wonder what happened the other 29 pass plays that game. LSU threw the ball 40 times that game and gave up two sacks.

At #4?

If it’s been said and I missed it….sorry. If he was an NFL caliber LT….he would have been at LT at Mizzou.

What is better? LOL

1. Moses at LT, Membou at RT
2. Lowe at LT, Moses at RT
