Caedan Wallace?

There seems to be a lack of faith in Caedan Wallace, but he broke his leg in only his second start week 4 of the season and only returned for the last two games of the season. Does't seem to me we have enough of a track record to pass judgement.

People passed judgement the day he was drafted and it was only made worse when Wolf said he could play LT. I am excited to see what he can become under the tutelage of Marone, I am not the biggest Marone fan, but he is what we have so heres to hoping.

He will get some development time this year (& next?) behind Morgan Moses... Moses signed a 3 year deal, but there is no guaranteed money in y3... He has time to grow into a starting RT

I think it likely that he is slated to be our backup RT for 2025. There are other options if he shows nothing before the season starts. We could sign someone else, use Jacobs, or consider Lowe our backup RT.

I don't think that he will beat out Sow and Robinson for the open backup OG position, if there even is one. Strange, Onwenu and Schweitzer are locks and we might sign or draft another player to compete with Robinson and Sow.

It wasn't just WOLF who said that Wallace could play LT. It's FACT that Wallace was LT2 at Penn St behind Fashanu. That came from the O-Line Coach at Penn State. That O-line coach stated that Wallace would have been their LT if Fashanu wasn't there and that Wallace took snaps every practice at LT as well as his normal RT snaps.

The biggest issue for Wallace was the Pats moving him back and forth. Not letting him get used to one position. If they'd intended to make him the LT, they should have stuck him there and left him there. Not moved him back and forth.

Marrone wasn't a great HC, but he's regarded as being one of the better O-Line coaches. Probably a step below Scar. Which is still pretty good. I'm hoping that Wallace is put at a position and allowed to learn what it takes at the PRO level. Whether it's LT or RT. I think he's got the ability to be a starter. The Pats coaching staff just need coach him so that his confidence is there.

Wolf may well be a moron, but his statements about Wallace being a LT came because of the Penn St. O-line Coach having stated that Wallace took snaps as the LT2 for 4 years at Penn St. But would THAT GUY know about O-line, right?

While we shouldn't bank on Wallace being anything more than. Backup, would be awesome to see him take that second year leap into a solid starting OT

Onwenu's cap hit next year is big, so we might need a new RG if Onwenu is released. Sow might step in. I wonder if Wallace is a better guard than tackle, like Thuney or Mankins, at the Pro level.

They're Tackles in this upcoming Draft better than Caedan Wallace. Let's stop wasting bandwidth on that bum: Ozzie Trapilo will be an upgrade over Wallace.

I don't think we would have signed Moses if they had faith in Caedan Wallace.

Moses has played LT and RT - he is versatile. Trapilo also played both positions well at the Senior Bowl. We could still sign Smith at LT as a 1 year stop gap.

Wallace might be a great guard behind Onwenu.

I don't understand this propensity from some of the fanbase to convince themselves and others - the people they SAW, with their OWN EYES, completely suck as part of the worst offensive line of the past 20 ****ing years, and they're somehow good, or just need more time.

I thought it was his ankle? As a 3rd round pick I think he has a bright future. He showed ability to hold his own.. his issue was just getting injured. There will be roles for both he and Robinson going forward. They both showed something last season that warrants them spots on the roster.

Moses is still a solid player at his age.. I think Vrabel was leaning more towards the leader and person Moses is and what he can do for the young guys. Wallace and Robinson were rookies that had a HC that frankly had no business being one. I'd be willing to see what they can develop into as they were rookies.. also part of the OL vrabel resign Jacobs and brown.. that is admission from the team that coaching was piss poor.

Gather as much depth on the OL as possible.. let them battle it out in camp to define thier roles.

eh, its just common sense... hes under contract for for cheap money through 2027... it doesn't hurt to keep him around as a developmental prospect as an OT... depth is good, and having a decent swing tackle is worth the investment in time and the roster spot... if he pans out, great, and if he doesn't or we find someone else who can play better, then you can let him go...
