Abdul Carter vs LT at 4?

If Carter’s there at #4, the Pats will take him. The same goes for Hunter (Both won’t be there, but imagine if that somehow happens. Personally I think we’d prioritize Carter).

If neither Carter or Hunter are there at 4, we should trade down but stay in the top 10 and take the best LT available. Then move up into the bottom half of the 1st rd to draft the best WR available.

I don't believe you can win with a ****y OL.
WE HAVE GAMES that prove IT, CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
Look it up, it's pretty fkn EZ.

Sick of this crap, you guys want Shiny toys, I want MEN that are going to ALLOW guys to shine.

Do we HAVE those guys?
No.
You’re completely wrong if you think drafting a tackle with red flags is a better pick at 4 overall than an edge rusher with all pro potential.

Although I think that the Patriots should trade back if Hunter is not there at 4, the problem is finding a trade partner. If Hunter and Carter are gone, then who would really want pick 4 bad enough to trade up? If the Patriots do not want T-rex at 4, I am pretty sure no one else will.

Honestly, I think that's why they've been leaking they'd take T-Rex and McMillan at 4, even though I don't think they would, they're trying to make some team believe it.

Nightmare scenario:

Cam Ward and Abdul Carter are off the board at 1 and 2 to the Titans and Browns respectively. Things are looking good, just need the Giants to pick Shedeur Sanders and we've got Travis Hunter. Giants want Sanders but feel confident he'll be there after the Pats pick. They trade with the Jaguars to swap places and grab an additional pick or two. Jags trade in to the 3 spot and steal Hunter away. Pats now have to hope someone other than the Giants wants Sanders badly enough to leapfrog them. Pats find no takers and settle on Will Campbell at 4 and pray that he can be the LT they're looking for. The bastard Giants get Sanders at 5 plus whatever else the Jags gave them for their troubles.

Hopefully that doesn't play out that way, but just feels like a trade is bound to happen with one of the top 4 teams. Just a matter of who.

If the Giants are convinced that Sanders can be their franchise QB, big if, then there is no way they get cute and risk losing out on the most important position to pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd rd pick.

Just like last year when people wanted to trade down with the Giants in hopes they wanted to leap frog the Cardinals for MHJ and still end up with Maye at 6.

Taking Maye at 3 was the right call just like taking Sanders would be the right for the Giants, again if he is viewed as a potential franchise QB

I hope it’s the Giants too.

What is that link saying, LTD?

That Sanders family hope he ends up in NYG.
The Giants have Nabors, Hyatt, and Slayton. Great spot for Sanders. No room for Hunter as WR4. Giants are going QB unless Ward and Sanders are both gone already.

Carter drawing comps to Von Miller. If the draft goes Ward, Sanders, Hunter... you run that card up there.

Hardly a nightmare. Campbell is a day one starter, short arms and all.

I'm astonished that there is actually a discussion about this pot'l selection.

I think the notion about teams should never draft for need is really ********.. if teams never drafted for need then there would never be any NFL teams period. All teams draft for needs. That's why it is called a draft. When Matt light retired we needed a LT.. drafted Nate solder, 2010 we needed a CB we drafted McCourty..Mac jones... Drake... plenty of examples of drafting for needs on a team. If Campbell is there at 4.. then they'll Take him is my thinking..

Unfortunately, due to their piss poor offensive free agency, they are forced to draft a LT or a WR. You can’t go into 2025 with no weapons or protection for Maye like in 2024, that’s a waste of another year for Maye.
There are teams rebuilding like us that didn't make the post season that have done even less than we have in FA on offense.

It seems simple to me. He's third on the Pats radar, Hunter, Carter and Campbell. If the first two go and there's no acceptable trade partner, then you HAVE to pick. Where is the player on the big board? Third? Take him. If not, then you take whoever is third. It's not hard.

Absolutely agree. Draft analyst make it more difficult than it needs to be.. we have the QB, the coaching. We revamped the defense. Without solid OT play we can't execute on offense unless Drake is running for his life each snap. Sometimes the draft gods give you what you need over what you want!

I think Wolf is playing a pre-draft game of speaking in tongues. Of course the NEP are going to draft based on need.

If Hunter is there, they will take him because they need a WR. If Carter is there they will take him because Landry is a stop-gap and Carter is an incredible talent. If Campbell is there they will take him because they need a LT or LG. In these situations, those are top players worthy of the slot the NEP are selecting in.

Now...where teams get in trouble is reaching in the draft for a position in need and getting a player that doesn't warrant the draft slot. They also get in trouble for trading down and not finding a way to acquire elite talent.

At the end of the day teams need to ensure they acquire talent commensurate with the draft position. Full stop.

Seems simple but it isn't.
