diggs?

don't let him leave new england without a contract... least two years, three would be better.
Whatever it takes. Having a capable WR outweighs what the cap hit ir future dead money is.

aging healthy wide receivers(dk, adams, kupp)? Patriots sleep
Aging, bum leg wide receivers they might get at a discount? Patriots wide awake.

So if we sign Diggs, do we still take Hunter at 4, or do we go for a LT?

Every all out competitor I have ever met who hates to lose has a little bit of ******* in him. Nice guys finish last is a cliche for a reason.

There's "hating to lose" and there also is being a petulant turd. Diggs' toxic behavior in Buffalo is well documented. This is not to say he can't straighten up and perhaps do well here, but the caution flag certainly should be up with this guy. Whatever happens, I trust Vrabel's judgment.

Its a bit of a risk, but Edelman tore his acl at 31 yo, came back and had 2 of his best years at 32 and 33 yo before his body gave out at 34. If diggs could give us even 1 good year itd be well worth it, but his tear occured months later than jules so we might only be getting half a seasons worth.
Year 1, might be rough. year 2 not so much.

If he comes here and acts exactly like he did in Buffalo our WR room is much better.

4-13 teams should have angry people on them. We had guys telling us that they kept showing up.
Give me an ass who can play over a nice guy who can’t.
Diggs attitude has been part of teams that were 34-16 and made the playoffs every year. The team that was 16-35 should shut up about “being better than that”

Hopefully. Only concern there is his age, at 32 /turning 33 where he’ll be next year and above a wr can decline suddenly at any point. Still think its worth a shot. Id have preferred the aiyuk route and spend a bit more money, but ill take anything right now.

I absolutely hate Diggs. A million dollar skillset with a 10 cent brain.
He had a great situation in Buffalo and still shot his way out of town.
If Mayo was still our coach, this is a move I would have hated even more than I do now.
With Vrabel as our head coach, at least I have faith that he can manage Diggs.

Both are JAGs

Douglas- a smurf who is zero threat in the red zone, not good at route running, and doesn’t run fast enough for being so small and weak.

Boutte- not tall enough, not strong enough, not fast enough, no threat in the red zone, gives questionable effort at times, has average hands.
If you watch some Booty tape from LSU pre injury, dude looks alot like Diggs. I think that he can achieve that this year. He had ankle surgery in 2021 and again in 2022. He stated that he felt much better in 2024 and was playing much more freely, I would assume that 2025 is going to be better.

I think I'd rather have Amari Cooper but I'm ok with this if they get a deal done.

They should probably sign only one FA to the top of depth chart, and they certainly are drafting one in days 1 or day 2,so that leaves

Top Free agent (lock)
Rookie (lock)
Douglas (lock)
Boutte (lock)
Hollins
Polk
Baker
Bourne (traded or released)

It's too much, I think they will get rid of one of Polk or Baker after training camp.

I watched Boutte at LSU. You really comparing him to a prime Diggs? That’s crazy talk.

Jesus how many years to you want to rely on ****ty players and hope they get better? They don’t

Why would you put a condition like that on the player. What ********?
We want receivers who want the ball and speak up when they don’t get it not receivers who can’t get open and are polite
We don’t need guys who put themselves ahead of the team, and sulk if anybody but them gets the ball.

If you’ve got more than one WR who speaks up when they don’t get the ball you’ve got WRs fighting with each other about who gets to be targeted. Thats not healthy.

This is actually surprising.

Maybe Vrabel and Diggs can come to an understanding. You get an incentive laden deal and if you start your ******** then you’ll never see that money. But if you can be a team player then you will be our legitimate WR1, you’ll rack up very nice stats and be rewarded for it.

The offense they ran in Houston the last couple years has some similarities to what McDaniels runs (his brother is the WRs coach there, so Diggs may already know Josh) and he’s probably a good fit from that perspective. He actually looked very good last year before he got hurt. He stepped right in for Nico Collins which is no small feat.
He wasn't the first choice because he comes with risk. They are simply running out of options.
