Stefon Diggs visiting Patriots

It’s not inevitable that nice guys can’t play. We’ve had some guys who weren’t divas that could play. Squirrel was one. Randy Moss wasn’t an ******* but he but did okay.

Diggs wanting ball isn’t a negative. Diggs sulking and *****ing and whining and shooting himself out of town like he did in Buffalo is a big negative. When you act so bad that the team that has you decides they don’t want you any more you’ve proven you are a liability not an asset.
Revisionist history. Moss was good soldier for two years then went full A hole and got dumped.

He regretted it years later but still.

What tools does Boutte bring to the table that could allow him to make a dramatic jump to a pro bowl level?

Hes not tall, he’s not big, he’s not strong, he’s not that fast, his hands are average, and his work ethic is questionable. Again his ceiling has never been very high at all. The definition of a JAG.
He is not tall, but neither are a handful of other successful WRs. The guy ran a 4.3 something in highschool, he also ran by Derek Stingley last year for a TD. He runs pretty good routes and has some good releases off the LOS. A 63% catch rate that uses all targets as the dividend, so does not account for inaccurate balls that were uncatchable. Not the best but not the worst.

He has things to work on for sure and I did not imply or at least did not mean to imply he would be a probowler.

There would be something fun about beating the Bills with their own guy.

And then there's this clip:

So? He can play.
You think a guy who can play who is unhappy when he isn’t producing is better then slugs who don’t seem to care but drop passes then tell you they have the best hands in the league?

Are we really becoming the fans who want to lose quietly?

When you are on a losing team, you have every right to “speak up” “complain” even as far as you can make a scene. However, when you are on a winning team, and you still do all that ****, you are a problem that more time then not is detrimental to the team.

Diggs has shown time and time again he complains regardless. Like someone mentioned earlier. If he signs here, it needs to be completely incentive based With the understanding he needs to STFU and no one really cares about how he feels or what he accepts. If he’s a problem, he can find a new team.

With our cupcake schedule, Vrabel and real coaches, heavily upgraded D... dare I say playoffs could be within reach as a wildcard next year?

Flies in the face of recent reporting that said the Pats were avoiding "diva" WRs who demand the ball
Maybe they want to see how much diva he has left in him after his last couple of years.

A lot of patriots fans still live in the past where we were able to win with good locker room guys who were less talented, but that’s because Tom Brady was the QB. And Brady still played with several All Pro/ProBowl options during those years like Randy Moss, Wes Welker , Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Brandin Cooks.

Expecting Maye to produce good numbers and help the team win games with less talent is a recipe for disaster. We can’t rely on scheming to get wide receivers open. We need a dude that Drake can grow with and rely on when the stakes are high.
Exactly. TB12 elevated out receivers. Now we need receivers who will elevate Maye.

Maybe Diggs won't be as much of a jerk as he is coming off an ACL.

No need for players throwing tantrums on the sidelines for not getting the ball.
Can you Please remind me about his „tantrums“?

He is /almost 32; so appx a 10 year vet. I only vaguely recall his whole history & I thought it was just one year in Buffy that he acted out/shot off his mouth.

If my memory correct; & that „only one year„ was a contract prove-it year ; he was quite young; or there was other **** going on team-internal (that we maybe don’t know) then you can maybe discount that rep a good bit.

I also (as others said) would be more worried about the medical status & age situation vs attitude.

If the money works … depth is good & likely better than what we got (barring miracle development/transformations).

& bonus: him on 90-man roster provides ability in Draft to be unpredictable. If everyone knows you have a desperate need they can hold trades hostage for max value. W diggs on board they can bluff a take-it-or-leave it offer to get what they want.

He was well regarded in Houston, I believe he was voted a team captain?

I think his issue in Buffalo was a more personal one with Josh Allen.

Not sure how much he has left in the tank though.

Great post. My biggest concern with Diggs is age and loss of reflexes/speed. In his prime Diggs was a monster. How far removed from his prime is he? How much does he have left? I’m willing to take that Gamble
Agree on the take . Little worried about his age, ACL tear and also his me first attitude …..and how much is left in the tank…..tough call

sign the (battered) beast!

To me is honestly a no brainer

People can say "attitude" as much as they want, to me is not a good argument.

We have hired Vrabel for this reason (not solely), but if Diggs alone can cause havok, or spreads it easily, then he is not doing his job. It can't be all praises in hypothetical scenarios, but having a DIVA wr (the most common thing is Football) is "awww is too much". No.

Diggs would instantly upgrade our corps, EVEN at 50% of his peak (and he's better than that.). WE HAVE MONEY TO OVEREXPEND AND PAY!!!

Don’t let him leave unless he’s a Patriot. I was hoping for Aiyuk but Diggs will have to do.

I’m surprised because he doesn’t seem like a Vrabel guy. But if they structure the deal so it’s easy to get rid of him, I can see the Pats doing it. Their plans A, B and C seem to have evaporated.

Serious question

If we offered him 25M, all incentive ladden

Who says no? Who are ""we"" helping by not being spenders on the market, even if it's obsecene? Its the Market who can't keep up with our capital

He may be an aging injured diva, but he’s still far better than the garbage dump we have at WR. Sign him
Don't let him leave without a deal. Even on an ACL and age 31 he's a number 1 in this offense. Drake will thrive will diggs in the offense. This needs to happen!

I'm thinking they don't want to give up draft capital. He's a FA so why not make a move on him.. I don't think Diggs came here for nothing.. I've hear no other teams really inquired about him so we may get lucky. Even at 31 on an ACL diggs is still the best WR here. Guy is a masterful route runner.
