Revisionist history. Moss was good soldier for two years then went full A hole and got dumped. It’s not inevitable that nice guys can’t play. We’ve had some guys who weren’t divas that could play. Squirrel was one. Randy Moss wasn’t an ******* but he but did okay.
Diggs wanting ball isn’t a negative. Diggs sulking and *****ing and whining and shooting himself out of town like he did in Buffalo is a big negative. When you act so bad that the team that has you decides they don’t want you any more you’ve proven you are a liability not an asset.
He is not tall, but neither are a handful of other successful WRs. The guy ran a 4.3 something in highschool, he also ran by Derek Stingley last year for a TD. He runs pretty good routes and has some good releases off the LOS. A 63% catch rate that uses all targets as the dividend, so does not account for inaccurate balls that were uncatchable. Not the best but not the worst. What tools does Boutte bring to the table that could allow him to make a dramatic jump to a pro bowl level?
Hes not tall, he’s not big, he’s not strong, he’s not that fast, his hands are average, and his work ethic is questionable. Again his ceiling has never been very high at all. The definition of a JAG.
So? He can play.
You think a guy who can play who is unhappy when he isn’t producing is better then slugs who don’t seem to care but drop passes then tell you they have the best hands in the league?
Are we really becoming the fans who want to lose quietly?
Maybe they want to see how much diva he has left in him after his last couple of years.Flies in the face of recent reporting that said the Pats were avoiding "diva" WRs who demand the ball
Exactly. TB12 elevated out receivers. Now we need receivers who will elevate Maye.A lot of patriots fans still live in the past where we were able to win with good locker room guys who were less talented, but that’s because Tom Brady was the QB. And Brady still played with several All Pro/ProBowl options during those years like Randy Moss, Wes Welker , Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Brandin Cooks.
Expecting Maye to produce good numbers and help the team win games with less talent is a recipe for disaster. We can’t rely on scheming to get wide receivers open. We need a dude that Drake can grow with and rely on when the stakes are high.
Can you Please remind me about his „tantrums“?Maybe Diggs won't be as much of a jerk as he is coming off an ACL.
No need for players throwing tantrums on the sidelines for not getting the ball.
Agree on the take . Little worried about his age, ACL tear and also his me first attitude …..and how much is left in the tank…..tough callGreat post. My biggest concern with Diggs is age and loss of reflexes/speed. In his prime Diggs was a monster. How far removed from his prime is he? How much does he have left? I’m willing to take that Gamble
Serious questionI’m surprised because he doesn’t seem like a Vrabel guy. But if they structure the deal so it’s easy to get rid of him, I can see the Pats doing it. Their plans A, B and C seem to have evaporated.
Don't let him leave without a deal. Even on an ACL and age 31 he's a number 1 in this offense. Drake will thrive will diggs in the offense. This needs to happen! He may be an aging injured diva, but he’s still far better than the garbage dump we have at WR. Sign him
I'm thinking they don't want to give up draft capital. He's a FA so why not make a move on him.. I don't think Diggs came here for nothing.. I've hear no other teams really inquired about him so we may get lucky. Even at 31 on an ACL diggs is still the best WR here. Guy is a masterful route runner.I’m surprised because he doesn’t seem like a Vrabel guy. But if they structure the deal so it’s easy to get rid of him, I can see the Pats doing it. Their plans A, B and C seem to have evaporated.
Diggs passion and his sense if urgency could rub off on guys. Polk and baker could learn alot from a guys who's been an all pro.I’m speaking from the standpoint of locker room culture
