Player Signing Patriots sign Center Garrett Bradbury

For most of last year we started Onwenu at RG and then players who graded amongst the absolute WORST in the league at their position at LG (Jordan/Robinson/Sow), Center (Ben Brown) and RT (Jacobs), along with a really poorly graded player at LT (Lowe). Moses at RT is a solid player. Bradbury and Strange haven't been world beaters, but their guys on the line between starter level and backup rather than on the roster/off the roster like we had last year. Lowe is still Lowe, but he actually didn't grade that poorly as a pass blocker last year. Run blocking was his real weakness, and we project to be strong there actually from LG over to RT.

I think it's possible that they've improved their OL as an overall unit from "crippling weakness" to just "weakness". I don't think we're close to good enough, but even as-is I think it's close enough to respectable that it won't be a lost year on offense.

Gotta have workman guys. I know nothing of this guy other than what the others have posted... good run blocker, suspect pass blocking. He's a center by position, not a guard trying to be center. Guys started 88 games. He's not an all-pro guy, but they gotta start someplace. It's a step in the right direction.
I just think that if you can develop Strange as a center you are in a much better position than with Bradbury.

Bradbury is at the top of the depth chart right now but Strange train all last year during his rehab at center. If he continues to rep at center during the offseason I wouldn’t be shocked if he overtakes Bradbury in TC.

You aren’t the 55th/64 center in pass blocking grade by being bad just down the stretch.

Guess who was the 56th center in pass blocking grade last year ? Ben Brown.

Is that PFF grades? Not sure if I believe them or not. I disagree with PFF grades of Patriots players all the time.

It's not good enough long-term, yes.
It *is* close to good enough to not get your ****ing QB killed, and be the reason you lose football games.

Maybe call Trent 'Shut it down' Brown. He liked Josh.

Protection was not good here but i wonder how many times vikings ol’men were screaming in their heads like the announcers here

Bradbury seems to be the only guy who didn't let his guy to collapse the pocket on this play. His guy didn't get more than a half yard past the line (granted he had double team help for part of the play).

Objective of the season: protect Drake Maye.

1st step : create a hole at center
2nd step: sign a center that can’t pass block.
How did the Patriots "create" a hole at center?

David Andrews failed his physical; that is why he was released.

Something had to be done - quickly - once that happened.

Signing Bradbury does not automatically mean that the team will stop attempting to improve at the position either.

I’m sure some will ***** because, well, that’s what they typically do…but at that money, why the hell not. Good run blocker, maybe he can learn a few pass protection techniques. Nothing to hate here

My version of @upstater1's table, projecting out to what it'd look like on a 53 man roster. Only requires 11 players total, although 1 isn't currently rostered - and wouldn't mind upgrading Andrews.

Depth is still very iffy but there are a few young options that need time to develop.
The OL aspect just behind talent is continuity (best obtained by being healthy!) The Patriots have trotted out an average of five to six different OL lineups per season the last four years - mostly due to availability! OLs with no continuity can't operate as a unit, are easily disrupted by stunts and schemes, cannot consistently open running lanes, and contribute to poor offensive play overall effecting every other aspect of offense.

So far we are adding moses, strange (wasn’t available most of the year), j andrews, and bradberry to the OL from last year. Still a bit of work needed here but this is significant improvement thus far.
Schweitzer too for some depth

Hopefully his issues in pass protection can be coached out of him.

Big “if” considering MIN is widely viewed as one of the best teams at developing OL players. Hopefully a change of scenery? Not sure, but hopefully he was a bad fit scheme wise in MIN.

This at least feels like a clearer picture.
Can you please change this to show Wallace ahead of Jacobs. I dint want him to be embarrassed. You could also list the foxborough high RT ahead of Jacobs he’s most likely better.

Welp, it’s something.

DMaye says “thank you”! We may actually have 4 starting linemen as long as Strange resumes playing left guard again. Draft 3 of the biggest/baddest OT’s in round 2-3-4 and let them fight it out who starts and who sits/learns. Round 1 needs to be for WR#1 and at this point I don’t care who it is as long aa he’s fast/quick, can learn and run correct routes, create separation, and oh yeah, has better hands than “Allstate” Polk snd can catch the damn ball!!

Nice signing o line is nearly complete.

I am disappointed...

was hoping to see the "Cue the Duckboats" meme by now...

It may take the troll a bit to get around to it, around 6 months or so
I heard from a guy whose friend's cousin knew someone that saw a post from tunamelt that there was a rumor he was enjoying a nursing home fire so much he 'accidentally' strayed within 100 yards of a playground trying to get a better view and set off his ankle hardware
