What’s our plan at Wide Receiver?

What a fiasco. How does this team walk away after this week with Mack Hollins the big offense UFA signing?
Going on 6 years of inept offenses and patience is wearing thin.
We have a timid GM who is afraid to take any risks.
They are not getting an elite WR in this draft
Its not happening.
Team will be bottom 5 in offense again.
Get rid of Wolf
Rant done
It's only week one of building the next team. We are not getting an elite WR this year. Hoping we build a competent OL.
If we stink again, you can get your diva next year.

Maybe the evaluation inside the team front office is that coaching was the biggest problem with the offense, not players.

If so, there’s been a very serious effort to fix the offense. Or have you missed the coaching staff turnover?

That coaching staph turnover also includes Todd ****ing Downing as our new WRs coach… Dude’s Never been one on ANY level; so…Meet the New boss. Same as the Old boss.

He’s very impressive, no way he falls out of the first. Where do we get him? Half the forum wants us to draft a tackle with a 32 5/8” arm length at 4 overall!
I had short arms too.. I played 10 years, protecting the GOAT.. do you remember me?

I think Vrabs has shown he is not scared to move up in the draft.
Vrabs may move up to 2 with his buddies in Cleveland to take Carter or Hunter.
It’s a bad idea to let the draft come to us.

What would the trade compensation be to make that move for us?

The strategy has become clear IMO LTD. Revamp the defense and utilize the draft and of course FA to plug holes on offense. Definitely the team knows they need an OT and at least a WR for Drake... I also believe it's an admission by the organization that coaching was so bad on offense least season that having Josh back and some veterans coaching could make all the difference for Drake and the offense.

This is what everyone said last year. I'm done making excuses/kicking the can down the road.

My strategy is either to take Hunter with our first pick.
Trade down to take the top OL on your board.
I’m watched a ton of tape on the wide receivers and the truth
he is the only number 1 WR the other all have strengths and weaknesses.

I don’t see a huge talent drop from Golden to say Noel.
From Higgins to Smiith.

Only sure fire WR with number 1 talent in this draft is Hunter and Emeka from Ohio State, Burden has a outside chance to become a very good number 2 poor mans number 1.

It’s a log jam of mid talent.
Vrabel said they want guys who can win the contested deep balls and 1 on 1 Matchups.

If we aren’t making a blockbuster trade for Brown, Olave, or insert WR here.

We have to be smart and not overdraft for mediocre upgrades.

Lockett has been able to play as long as he has despite his dimunitive size because he’ll take a dive to avoid getting tackled, which is smart, but also can be frustrating to watch from a fan perspective. For a fanbase that loves its dirtdogs Lockett is more of a finesse type, the antithesis of fighting for every yard. Doesn’t strike me as Vrabel’s flavor.

Not a terrible thing to do. Randy Moss did that **** a lot. I would rather the WR get 5 yards less and be available for the next play.

The big offensive signing was Morgan Moses.
There are still players left to be signed.

Who did we not get that you wanted to?
We went all in on Godwin. We pursued but didn’t go crazy about aging WRs.
Maybe you like the LTs but long term contract for questionable guys you may still need to upgrade isn’t good business.

I expect LT is addressed in the draft.
I expect a veteran starter to be signed at LG or C but that doesn’t have to be week 1.

I expect us to still pursue all the WRs including trade options and certainly sign one better than who we currently have plus address it in the draft too.
I expect any WR we retain to be better in Josh McDaniels system than they were in last years high school offense.

It would be great if Justin Jefferson and Ronnie Stanley were available in Fred agency and we signed them, but they weren’t.

Complain about how tough it is to find top players at some positions, but if you are going to complain about what they did, please show an alternative that is realistic that they chose to ignore.

This has been tough watching people get signed that could have helped.

Will Fries at LG and Dalman at Center would have been huge for this team, but alas it was not meant to be. The defense has been remade to an extent, there are a few more needs/upgrades but I have been pleasantly surprised.

I would love to see Elijah Moore, Jedrick Wills and Teven Jenkins brought in but the fact that Vrabel spent time around Moore and Wills makes me think he is not interested since no move has been made.

I like the approach because they are not just throwing money at players that play a position of need. Sure Cam Robinson is out there but no other team has made him a priority up to this point so maybe the Pats are right not to go in.

Ultimately, they are more familiar with the player than I am so while its frustrating we have to defer to them...Oh yea and mostly because we can't do **** about it.

as long as he can catch, “live to play another down”

Last year needs to be ignored as an amazing anomaly.

I agree with you as you make perfect sense. I like what the organization said about being aggressive and not reckless.

They of course know what they need and the good thing in all of this is we still have lots of time between now and week 1.

I don't know what the Team's Plan is. That being said, as far as my plan to address the WR Position (and OL for that matter): Pray!
Thier approach is revamping the defense. Setting the culture. They will of course add OT and WR.. we have Vrabel running the show not like last season wolf telling us there was enough to support Drake.

We have the coaching, the culture and the vision now. As we currently speak I can say with confidence we have the best HC in the AFCE.

I've been a fan of Egbuka since last year. I seem to be a lot higher on his potential for NFL success than most other folks. I once said that he reminds me of a bigger 6'1-202 vs 6'1-195, and faster 4.4 something 40 vs 4.30 40 Justin Jefferson. But when people point out that he's not on the same level as Jefferson, I point out that when he was drafted (after Jalen Reagor by the way), he wasn't the Jefferson that he came to be. He's been played mostly out of the slot in college, but with his size, speed, and quickness, he can be deployed at any WR position. Barring injury, and an incompetent coaching staff, and poor QB play, he could greatly exceed his draft position. Just my humble opinion.
