I still think Kupp is our best option (until he inevitably signs with Seattle). Metcalf and Godwin were never coming here.
There's a reason to knock on every WR option out there, and I mean EVERY WR option, but at some point you have to take a gamble and hope for improving the WR room. Young, highly productive WR's in their prime never make it to free agency. They're either extended, or tagged, or traded and then extended.
Cooper Kupp: 32 this season, limited due to injuries the last three seasons
Brandon Aiyuk: production looks bad before season ending ACL/MCL injuries, would cost draft capital + his large salary (though not as much of a concern) + not a guarantee for start of the season
Stefon Diggs: 31 this season, production took a dip since second half 2023, coming off torn ACL, not a guarantee for start of season, attitude concerns
Keenan Allen: 33 this season, production tailed off last season, entering 13th season
Amari Cooper: 31 this season, massive drop productive wise, barely used in Buffalo
Brandin Cooks: 32 this season, has looked washed for last three seasons, is an older, name-brand Darius Slayton at this point
Then you have the draft and you have people here who don't want Travis Hunter or Tetairoa McMillan and it's like, well who else can they get that would command targets ahead of Douglas and Boutte? I want the Pats to address the OL especially at LT just like everyone else does but I also don't want Maye to be stuck with the 2025 version of the 2006 Reche Caldwell/Jabar Gaffney receiving corps. Brady barely made that work and it led to BB eventually spending big the following offseason to get Moss/Welker/Stallworth. There are no sure bets for WR no matter where this team looks, but doesn't mean they shouldn't try. I'm praying for a reliable target for Maye.
