I would love to have Kupp but doubt he comes here. I’m sure he would prefer a contender. Kupp would be great to help provide some leadership to the WR room, give us an immediate bump at WR and hopefully provide a stepping stone to getting a better younger guy next off season. Brining in Kupp and drafting Jaylin Noel in the 2nd would be nice for example.

Kupp is a slot. Douglas is a slot. Noel projects to be a slot. I guess at the end of the day talent is talent, but seems a little questionable to go so heavy on slot players. None of those guys really project too well outside.

I'd say Douglas is actually isn't the slot, at least in how Josh has run the offense before, he won't stand up to the workload previous guys took.
There is no reason to believe that.

We really should overpay for Kupp and get him

McDaniels is going to have a field day, and again, we have lots of money
Yeah, they could easily blow him out of the water from a monetary standpoint. He's not a true WR1 but he is a model player and teammate and is someone that you shouldn't have to worry about pointing at and saying "this guy is our top 1 or 2 paid player".

I’m skeptical on Kupp. All that talk of his interest and curiosity about playing in New England screams agent putting that out there due to our ability to pay top dollar. Then to try and get as much out of a contender as they can

McDaniels would have no issues finding ways to use both Kupp and Douglas appropriately and also simultaneously.

We might also value slot receivers more than other teams.

Personally I think he's going to SEA. Grew up there. Wife is from there.

It was an interesting experience watching Douglas have a fairly strong season as the slot man under Bill O'Brien in 2023, to then becoming almost forgotten in AVP's scheme which doesn't really use or focus on slot WRs.

If he's got a long list of suitors I don't suspect he'll choose us. If we wanted to overpay we should have sent a 7th to LA.
He has a lot of reasons to want to come here
-he would be the best wr on the team
-Drake Maye
-Josh McDaniels, wh out de system he is a great fit for
-up and coming team that brought in a good coach and is spending big to
improve
-Bourne is his best bud

If we wanted Kupp and there’s competition should of traded the 7th and reworked his deal later.

He had 17 more receptions in 24 than in 23

I'm sure he could. Just to be clear, I'm not against bringing Kupp on board. Tyler Kyles posted something earlier on X about how we have the Rams old pass game coordinator on staff and how we could use Kupp as himself, Douglas as Tutu Atwell and Bourne as Puka. IDK about the Bourne as Puka one lol, but the rest fits.

The post I responded to also talked about adding Noel in the draft too though. That's where it got to a are we over allocating resources to slots IMO.

How could have Douglas been forgotten when he improved on every offensive category and played a lot more?

Creating $50M in cap space only actually puts them $30M in the black. After some of the signings they've already agreed to, it's likely closer to $20M. Color me surprised that Mahomes did not get a raise like Allen did...

They keep pushing the cap hit forward, hoping the increase Year over year will make it less painful. In part it does. But the cap is not increasing as much as they are pushing forward.

Yeah, Douglas wasn't "forgotten". People just talked themselves into him being a breakout star and that didn't materialize. To my eye, it seems like it never will because I just don't think he's that good. He doesn't seem to have great feel for the game. Plays like someone who's just been faster and quicker than everyone his whole life (including in college at a lower conference) which isn't working for him at the NFL. In my mind, he's a #4 WR/package guy as opposed to someone who should really be one of the 3 "starting" receivers. And he can be a huge asset in that role, but I don't see the hype others have over him.

Can’t argue with the method.
They keep putting a team around Patricia.
