With Tet, there's also a lot of area between total boom and total bust. Like, let's say he comes in here and puts up annual state lines like 2021 Brandon Llloyd or 2014 Brandon LaFell. That's not going to excite anyone, but that's a good solid X receiver who will check the box.
I'm not sure McDaniels' offense is even really built for the X receiver to be the high volume, eye-popping statistical performer. I think his offense is more about that guy filling a role and opening up space for the Z receivers, the slots, the TEs, the RBs to catch a lot of passes on routes that get them open by using that space. Randy Moss is the only X he ever really features because duh that's Randy Moss. Even in LV with Adams and DEN back in the day with B-Marsh I think he's always put his high volume guy at Z or the slot.
I'm not advocating for them to take someone like that #4 of course, just saying there's room for Tet to be a "bad pick" at #4 but also a very good piece for us. Same way Campbell would be a "bad pick" at #4 if he flops at LT and ends up as a LG but if he's a good LG then that's not a disaster by any stretch.
