Player Signing Patriots sign WR Mack Hollins

He's made 18 million over the last 3 years (After 2021). You've gotten 100 catches, 1145 yds and 6 touchdowns. In 3 seasons. An average of 33 catches, 382 yds and 2 TDs per season. Kayshon Boutte, playing for nothing, a 6th round pick, did better than that last year. Mack Hollins did better than that. These are not elite receivers.
Maybe you do, but I don’t see ROI as the metric that defines a bum. Being injured, or on the **** list for calling a coaching cluster**** what it is, don’t make a guy a bum in my book. I’m disappointed Bourne has not had a more productive career here but much of that is because of circumstances outside of his control IMO. I’d like to see him do better, but if that’s what defines a bum there are thirty or forty bums on every team in the league.

Why are you being so rigid on this? Look at the 3 years you're using:

2022 - He spent all year in Patricia's doghouse not playing. It was an odd situation and doesn't seem to hold much predictive power going forward.

2023 - You're treating it like a full year and ignoring he got hurt halfway through it while he was on pace to basically repeat the 2021 numbers you're touted as promising.

2024 - Long history of WRs not being themselves in year 1 back from injury before getting back to a good approximation of it in year 2.

Just averaging the last 3 years without any consideration for his low playing time with Patricia, his time missed with injury, and his normal decline in year 1 back from doesn't make for a very good projection. You're ignoring so much context that you're not likely making a good prediction by doing that.

Don't forget that he has STs value too so even if he does get pushed out of WR playing time, he still has an avenue to make the team and contribute.

Unless you're a Returner or K/P, then there's no longer Any "STs value."

jag

How does this move generate 6 pages of content?

Because we need more - much, Much more - than Mack Hollins; yet this is the very first WR this front orifice chose to sign.

I mean, that doesn't really jive. If returners have value, someone has to block for them and someone has to tackle them. There's still such thing as STs value.

And especially for us because if Hollins is part of our WR depth chart then we'll need him to stay on the field as a gunner when we punt lol

I have to tell you, guys... I absolutely love this signing. Most of you guys have no good this guy really is. I think he was my favorite player to watch last season.

Vrabel, Wolf and Cowden are having a great FA so far. 6 potential starters brought in today. My opinion only, Arguably top 3 free agent CB in Davis, Top DT in Milton Williams, Top RT Moses, a potential starting big body X WR, Starting LB's in Spillane and Landry.

I do love all of the complaining though, so do not allow me to stop you. lol
You were doing great then imploded with that statement. If Mack Collins is your starting X, then your team is in serious trouble and expect Maye to never reach his ceiling.

Interesting pick up
Had 700 yds under Josh
Ferocious blocker downfield and STer
Has a tictoc and FB page where he shows off his charisma
Does not wear shoes. Even in Buffalo
They say he is the glue to a team
Not saying he is going to be a world beater
I do believe he will be a great locker room presence and a good example of how to play on the field
Culture is going to be a main focus this year

I don't understand why some people are worked up about this signing. He's a one year place-holder that acts as insurance should we not be able to draft an X. At least for now, we have an X receiver who can be a downfield and RZ threat, that is a very good blocker and special teams expert. No he's not the answer, but he might provide some cover until we get the answer.

My guess is that maybe people are tired of placating the position and kicking the can down the road.

But what do I know. I've only been on the we need WR help for a decade.

You can probably find a similar video montage of Cooper Kupp doing the same exact thing. Excellent way to make yourself a captain.

But Bourne & Hollins both Suck; so what difference does it make what designation is attached to their names?
That's right. Half the teams sucks, so don't put them on the field. Let's just go 5 on 11.

Bills fans are pissed they let him walk
Sure, but don't confuse that with how good a player he is. Every fan base has their favorites. They're not pissed because "how could we let such a good player go?!?!". They're pissed because it's such a low cost deal in NFL terms and they liked him to they wanted to keep their favorites.

It's the same type of "upset" everyone here gets every offseason when some 5'2" slot receiver with some shiftiness makes a couple random plays in the preseason and people fall in love and get mad when he doesn't make the team.

Good for him... but what does this mean for the WR spot really?

Douglas 24yr olds 675yards last year entering yr 3
Boutte 22yrs old 590yards entering yr 3 (may have more room to grow)
Bourne 29yrs old 305yards (12 games)

So Hollins at 31yrs 375yards is a solution how? We don't need another low end roster WR. We need a #1 and a #2 WR. I hope we didn't pay out any guaranteed money.

Right now the plan seems to be hope Boutte makes a big jump at year 23 and that we can land Hunter in the draft and have him instantly be that guy for us.

I’m sure they are looking at WR with their 2nd pick as well.
