Not giving up on them you're are making them earn it. I really don't see the Pats drafting 2 guys, but if they did I am for it.
You don't "make them earn it" by using MORE HIGH VALUE draft picks... That's the recipe for disaster. The epitome of that was the Lions drafted 1st round WRs 3 years in a row. .You make them "earn it" by bringing in FA WRs who are on a 1yr/ low value deal and making Polk/Baker beat out those guys. You don't throw away MORE picks on WR when there are bigger issues. Particularly at OT.

If you invest a 1st round pick in a WR, you're going to prioritize that guy over Polk or Baker. They aren't going to get a fair shake. At all.. There is no "making them earn it". It doesn't work like that and you know it.

The fact that there are people saying the Pats should bring in 2 VET WRs and 2 ADDITIONAL picks is lunacy. It says that only DOUGLAS is worth keeping. Which isn't reality. It's a "throw the baby out with the bathwater" mentality. It's led to numerous bad stints for franchises around the league. f

Just imagine they would have been successful getting Godwin and Stanley

.5 career sacks, I don't think he's better in pass rush than run stopping.

PFF is a joke.
I only use PFF to for the stats.. their rating system is atrocious.

Or that he'll be useful in goalline situations..
You don’t sign a day 1 free agent to only play 40 plays a season in goal line

Here me out, is it possible that Milton Williams plays some DE? According to his pro day he ran a 4.67 40 with a 1.65 10 yd split at 6-3 284. He also did 34 reps at 225 and a 6.96 3 cone. That would be a hell of a speed to power shot. Not that different than Shemar Stewart number from this combine.

Just curious on other opinion, what say you?

Still need
Starters
C/LG depending on where you put strange
WR
WR
S
Sub Edge pas rusher

Depth
C
G
T
Rb
LT is still a need.

Sign Cam Robinson, trade a 6th for Kupp, draft Hunter.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we saw Williams playing DE with Barmore on the other side and White & another DT inside.

Odds are you get 2 players worth anything out of a draft so what you do with the first 2 rounds matters the most. Got to be best player available on offense unless a defensive player is clearly the highest rated guy left.

Ideal scenario for me: a 3rd for Aiyuk, Pray Hunter falls to 4, trade a 2 and a 3 to get up for Josh Simmons, draft a RB in the 4th. Doubtful anyone after that makes the team so I could care less after the 4th round.
Got a LT, 2 wide receivers, and a RB to groom as a Rham replacement.

Can't do it all in 1 year and they basically got 4 defensive starters and 1 backup on defense in free agency plus a hopefully healthy Barmore.

In addition still some time to add some O Line and safety depth in free agency. Cam Robinson still in play also,

There is a path to a good offense.
You're trading two valuable picks for someone with a patella injury. I know he says he's on the road back to recovery but I get Dominique Easley vibes from someone with a serious injury like that. I could live with an Aiyuk trade although at some stage the spending can't go on forever.

Meh on Carlton Davis but we can always use corners.

Ummmm you make them earn it by bringing in guys they should beat?? I get what you are saying about draft capital giving an aura of safety. To me that feels flawed to say sure this guy in the draft might be better than Polk, but we can't draft him because we need to wait the allotted amount of time that DaBruinz has established as proper waiting time.

Is it throwing away picks if you strengthen the room? Not going to hit on all picks so wouldn't you want to find out sooner than later? I would. I just approach team building, differently I guess.
