Interior OL

We mostly talk about the Tackles, but on this thread...
What's a realistic starting interior-3? So curious how they really feel about Strange & Robinson.
B.Brown signing seems like a camp test.
But what if it turned out to be - Robinson / Strange / Onwenu on the IOL??
How would you feel?
Right now, I feel horrible about that.

I don’t see anyone pretending they are still the dynasty Patriots. What I see is many people acting like they never won a Lombardi.
Quite the opposite. Most act as though the Patriots are the Cleveland Browns historically

I suspect that we may have to draft a couple or three OT's (not to mention a True Center which can be had in the middle rounds). Even so, I'd really like them to also come away with Jayden Higgins, or at least a WR that can become what I hope he will. And, considering that this class is very deep at TE and RB, we need to draft and hit on one of each.
It looks like Hunter will be there at #4 (Giants take Sanders), so I suspect the Pats will sign a 2nd CB in FA and start Hunter as a WR (and maybe play some dime?). Higgins and Hunter should solve the WR problem - 6'1" and 6'4".

Robinson or Sow or J Andrews with Strange and Onwenu is not bad. We will not fix everything in one year.

My preferred plan C for wide receiver is Elijah Moore
I been sayin and folks are telling me that we don't need another slot WR, but He is not just a slot.
2024 lined up in slot 54%
2023 40%
2022 38%
2021 17%
Sure he is trending over his career as more of slot, but he is not just that.

Agree that we will not fix everything in one year. But, Onwenu didn't play as well as he's capable of playing, and the others are not promising.

It's just that this wr draft class is considered pretty ordinary..don't want to overextend . This class is pretty good on tight ends, running backs and DTs. Better to expand high draft capital there.
It is deep on RB, TE, and DL. I just don't want to pass up a potential at least high-end #2 or better WR (we've done that enough already).

We had IOL issues all season, and this would mean with 130 mill we did nothing to address them. No that would be a huge failure.

Jake Andrews hasn't even proven if he's a DISASTER Yet, so I have ZERO thoughts about him.
AFAIC, he means nothing.

Strange at center with Onwenu and Sow at guard is great if healthy and well coached.

They need to throw everything they have the rest of this offseason and find two tackles.

That would be awful.
There are guards available in FA so we will see in the next few days if the Pats target one to bolster the IOL.

Or a center
Or both
My guess is that the Pats will see IOL as a minor issue and wait to address it in 2026. But only a guess. They can't fix everything at once, so they have to decide on the priorities.

IOL was league worst last year.
How can it not be a major issue?
You have a disappointing Onwenu, Strange who missed almost the whole season and no one else of NFL caliber.

Why can’t you fix everything in one year?
We have the resources. We can’t put 22 Probowl starters out there but we certainly can upgrade every week spot.

Wonder if Pat mekhari could be tailor made for our little situation of uncertainty. We sign him as LG but he has flexibility to play tackle as well. Then if sow or robinson do well enough you can kick him out to rt. If not we leave him at lg and trade for Conklin (if the browns don’t ship him out sooner).

Strange played 2 games last year. Onwenu was disappointing. J Andrews and Sow didn't play at all. Possibly those guys can put it together. A bit of a long shot, but there other positions that have no shot at all.

I don't think the Pats will put a lot of resources, FA and draft resources, on the IOL, but I could be completely wrong.

If none of these guys made it onto this year's roster, I don't think I'd be too upset. At the moment, they are either at replacement-level or near retirement.

Andrews was a day 3 pick who hasn’t played a down in 2 years and sow couldn’t get on the field ahead of waiver claims.
There may not be a position in any team in the league that is weaker than the 3rd starter at IOL for the Patriots

I’d love to know where you think we are weaker that Andrews and sow.

And we have 130 million.

Why are you ok with not improving the weakest unit on a 4-13 team?
