I don't know. Andrews has been a warrior, and an exceptional leader.
But he's always been undersized and it was his smarts and strength & scrappiness that kept him going.
Now that he's older and more injuries - I don't know if he can hold up. But, being cut doesn't seem right.
Maybe it's a rumor because they're discussing, and gives a chance for him to retire with dignity.

With his cap hit though, would it make sense to keep for TC and see if he can earn a spot as a valuable backup?
To see what happens with Strange & Brown? (not like they both aren't injury prone too)

Strange has had (1) injury in the Pros. Started 44 of 48 games in college.

And he gutted through that injury through the 2023 season because the team was so short at OL.

Right! He had knee injury since 2023. He missed week 4.. then he had another knee against the Chiefs in 2023??

Except cutting David Andrews doesn't really save them much money according to Spotrac.

This would be almost a JuJu level dump.

Why would they do it unless Andrews was completely done?
Convince him to retire or another team to trade for him? Either way a 2 million dollar savings is worth it if you think he won’t make the team.

They can plug Strange in there, slide Sow to guard and not skip a beat. Just find some tackles.

I see strange at the LG and Benny Brown as C...

2 injuries knee in 2023 and knee in 2023..
He suffered a sprain or slight tear at the very end of camp in 2023 but played through it, then got leg whipped on the already injured knee and suffered a patella tear late in the year.

He missed the better part of 2024 because he got injured in week 14 in 2023… near the end of the season. It was a sever injury.

He missed time because of one knee injury, that doesn’t make him injury prone. Now if he misses time or is a lesser player because of his injury that’s another story. But he played the last two games of last season and was immediately one of their best linemen, he moved well.

If healthy he is a plug and play starter, fans can ***** and moan all they want that the Pats took a guard two picks removed from the second round… he has been a good durable player when healthy.

Prior to him being injured he was a solid LG.. I have him here and in the lineup as a starter. I don't know that we will have this vastly different OL.. I see some guys coming back healthy and younger guys getting the coaching they didn't last season. I've mentioned New LT, Strange, Brown, ownenu, and Wallace.

Ben Brown got benched when Strange returned because he wasn’t good. He looked okay for a game and got exposed against better competition. He’s not a starter.
I'll give u one better.. he was so bad after watching hours of film on everyone on the roster Vrabel decided to extend him!

Strange is entering the last year of his rookie deal if the club decides not to pick up his fifth year option. They might be smart to pick it up or extend him if he looks good in camp.

Coming off injury they can probably get him at a discount and if they envision him at center having an uber athletic guy in the pivot is smart. He can run and make blocks downfield. Him at center with two maulers at guard like Onwenu and Sow provides a lot of beef and athleticism inside.

1 million dollars with zero guarantees, he’ll make a good camp body. Depending on Strange and Jake Andrews they’ll need another center in camp to snap the ball.

Also he may be able to long snap and Joe Cardona is getting old.

Not in the books yet...

There are a number of centers and guards that look like they’ll be FA’s, so looks like we’ll be diving into the IOL market.
Explains why KC dealt Thuney.

Alright OL weaker than before.

Right. Benny brown showed enough in his time as a starter that he's worth sticking around.

A 2022 UDFA with average athleticism who has bounced around since then. He’s a warm body, a jag.
